Since its that time of the year when everyone is mailing greeting cards and presents via postal services, I was wondering if our mails to prison are slower than what it is already.. My mail to CTF from So. Cal usually gets to him in 3 weeks but I heard that the mail room staff takes their vacation around this time of the year and the mail gets put aside for longer time...
My loved one said it took about 6-8 weeks for him to receive a letter around this time of year last year.... Just concerned and hoping that he will receive the greeting from me by Christmas....
It normally does slow down this time of year, mostly because the quantity of mail coming in increases. But my brother seems to be getting my mail in just over a week--at least for the last few weeks--so so far so good. I would guess things would slow down this week and next, but I've been pretty happily surprised by how fast stuff is getting to him recently. The slowest I've ever seen is probably about 6 weeks, and the fastest is a few days (for postcards). I've been sending lots of holiday postcards from the usps.com site, and he gets them super fast.
That's good to hear!! My mail may be slower than others cuz of the language I write in... Japanese/English mixed... Anyhow~ Hope he will be receiving my Christmas Greeting I sent him on the 28th of Nov...
I will try the postcards from the usps.com site too~ ^o^ Thank you JMK~
Sure, no problem--I hope your mail gets there on time! If you haven't tried the postcards yet I can't say enough about how great they are! It costs under $1.50 and you do it all on line to be mailed the next day. You can pick all kinds of different designs, or upload your own photos or images. Then you type in what you want printed and it's all done for you. You can pick different fonts, colors, etc. Plus you can fit in way more than if you're handwriting (at least for me). Now I just go on and send a postcard whenever I have any random thought to share with him.
For anyone that wants to play around and try them, go to www.usps.com (http://www.usps.com), and under the Mailing Tools header click on Create Your Own Cards. It should be fairly self-explanatory from there, but let me know if you have any trouble. I love it!
