I am headed to the FMC Carswell Satellite Camp in January. My report date is on Monday, but it is going to be more convenient for me to go ahead and go earlier on the weekend. Will they allow you to do this, or cannot you absolutely not report until that date?

kjb08, you can self surrender any time prior or on the day designated. However doing it on a weekend will make it somewhat more difficult. For one thing they probably will not have a place for you and you would end staying the weekend in the SHU (solitary confinement) which is not a deep dark dungeon in the basement. It is a place set aside with beds for people that get in trouble. You wouldn't get to go to commissary for a while and won't have the essentials evern for a shower, tooth brush or anything.

I know this is a difficult time in your life. It is for all of us involved in this type of situation. But just remember, you are not alone; besides the family who loves you; there is God. HE will never leave you. I pray your time will be swift for you. God bless you.

My mom SS on a Friday and they didnt have a bed for her until Tuesday and she was put in the SHU. She said she never wanted to go back there again!! Her counselor was on vacation and she couldnt get phone privledges for over a week. There was a woman there that gave her a few starter things. She is a former employee of the BOP and is now incarcerated. If you have any questions I would be more than happy to answer you. Send me a private message.
