I noticed part of the dress code for visitation here in Arizona forbids "blue denim". I'm assuming black jeans are O.K?

Yes Black jeans are allowed at least in Yuma they are

Black denim is allowed at Florence~East and at Globe

Sounds like the same rule everywhere. We cant wear blue denim here, but we can wear any other color. Although I did have a pair of faded blue denim and died them a dark dark blue and they passed. Pretty much just not "blue jeans"

Can anyone tell me why this no blue jean rule exists? My man is in county for 30 days. I don't think they have that rule, but he will be in a prison somewhere after the 30 days are up.

Well, I'm not sure why they have the rule now, but a few years back (early 1990's I believe) the inmates wore blue denim pants and blue chambray shirts. At least they did at Fort Grant. Now that they all wear orange, I don't know why the rule would still be in place. Unless they still wear jeans at some prisons. I know at Safford they all wear orange.

I think that blue demin pants and blue chambray shirts are the clothes that the men get released from prison wearing --- their release clothes.

My ex-husband was at Fort Grant in 1991 and they used to wear the blue denim/chambray clothes in there. But, I think that's all changed now.

I was wondering what they gave them when they released them though. Especially since some of them have been there for quite some time and likely dont fit into the clothes they were arrested in. So, that's good to know :-)
