View Full Version : Need help with a prayer
Shellybee 12-01-2007, 11:24 PM I'm going to visit my son soon. I feel the need to hold his hand & pray for him, but the words really aren't coming to me. Can someone suggest something? I pray almost constantly, but I just talk to God. I see some
nice prayers on here for the parents, but I'm drawing a blank as to what to pray for him in person in prison. I've been a christian for many, many yrs., but somehow this is something I'm feeling awkward with. Thanks,
Shelly
BlessTheInmates 12-02-2007, 12:08 AM Perhaps the gift of holding his hand is exactly what God wants you to do at that moment...We'll be faced with the same thoughts as soon as we can hold our sons hands. Praise God you can visit with your son! Have a fantasitic visit with him.
Dear God, please help this mother find the words of prayer with her son when she visits him. Keep them safe and in your hands.

Just Hold His Hand And Speak From Your Heart
God Bless You
Mrs Hurd
I would pray that God keep him safe and send angels to protect him while he is there, I would ask God to keep him in good health and give him the wisdom and strength and guidance to get through this time. I would also ask for strength for the family members who will miss him. As you hold his hands you may all want to recite the Lord's prayer together.
God Bless You.
Demi
Believing 12-02-2007, 08:23 AM I agree with Demi. You could also pray for a hedge of protection, that the Lord would cover him with His peace, and that he use this time to draw near to the Lord.
After saying all that, I really believe when the time comes, the words will come to you. As Mrs. Hurd said: speak from your heart. Remember, the Holy Spirit is your Helper. Try not to worry about it ahead of time. It will be a special and intimate time for both of you.
MDF1965 12-02-2007, 11:58 AM Sometimes when we can't think of all the words we want to say, the best prayer is "Thank you."

and after that one,
Dear father God, please remain close to your son and walk with him. May his brother, Jesus, keep a hand on his shoulder. May your Holy Spirit bring peace and comfort. Thank you God for all your blessings especially the blessing that you will never leave us or forsake us.
jancy 12-02-2007, 12:33 PM remind your son that most of the apostles and even Christ himself spent time behind bars so he is among good company.
Shellybee 12-02-2007, 03:03 PM Thanks so much to all of you. There are some wonderful people on this site. I found this site some time ago & I'm so glad I did. Seems we are all in the same boat & it's good to have you to share with. My son is a crack addict & alcoholic. This is his second time in prison. God Bless all of you & your "inmates'. Shelly
Believing 12-02-2007, 03:38 PM Shelly, I don't find you and your son's name on my prayer list. You might want to consider posting your son's name in the prayer circle, here on the Parents forum.
God bless,
dutchgirl1 12-02-2007, 04:14 PM Shelly, I agree with everyone here. to hold his hand is a great bond and often the best prayers are those from the heart, even only a few faltered words, more commanding than the boldest articulate prayer. The words in the Bible say "the prayers of a fervant man (or woman) availest much." I believe that means true - from the heart.
Thank the Lord for His love and for your son. ask Him to watch over him,
things like that I think are all that is needed. the main thing is God honors a heart prayer and your son will see your love.
God Bless.

Believing 12-02-2007, 04:42 PM lady winifred, I've added Roberto to my prayer lists. Here is the link to the prayer circle, so you can add him on there. There are many others who keep prayer lists and diligently pray for everyone.
