I'm new to CTF. I'm coming from L.A how long is the drive? Any informaton on visiting will be helpful.

You will find a lot of helpful information about visiting CTF. Different facilities (North, South, and Central) have different quirks unique to each one. Check out the various threads.

I come from Los Angeles too. I take the 101 all the way. I believe that it is longer than the way some of the other ladies may come, but it is more of a straight shot. I hear the 46 is windy.

It usually takes me around 4 1/2 to 5 hours...that's on the way back home. Driving up, it varies because I stop to sleep about 2 to 3 times so I lose some time!:o

You should read on because driving up and getting in that car line is no joke!:eek: Also, if you're visiting in North (P.O. Box 705) there is a possibility of overcrowding and visits may be terminated.:shrug: :faint:

LOL the drive? It has taken me 3 1/2 hours to 5 depending on who's driving and if we are stopping. Me I don't stop. Just at the 5/46 for gas. (ok that was when I was visiting with the ladies:( ) I would take the 5 to the very scary 46 (it was only scary the first time) to the 101.
tea is right about terminations but if you visit once a month they will not terminate you (at least on Sat) I started not minding the early term on Sundays it gave me a head start home to beat the rush out of the visiting room and on the road.
There are a few ladies here if you look around the postings who have some great info. And despite what some others think ;) they are AWESOME!!!:p :D

There is a lot of traffic on the 101 and a lot of temptations to shop. I prefer the 5 to the 46 to the 101. The 46 can be dangerous, so you have to be alert. I had my first accident on the 46. His fault not mine. I saw him coming so I was able to slow down a lil bit.:eek: I think the wine tasting places are more dangerous then the winds. It takes me 5 hrs. But I always stop to eat. Yeah Papabear and Liz can do it in 3 1/2. :D

I'm new to this site. I just found out today that my boyfriend got transfered here last week. He is Level 1, so I assume from what I read he is in South. I haven't found much information here about that. Can anyone tell me more or give me information about the training programs your guys are involved in? Thanks,

I don't think any of us know anything more yet. Assuming all the guys are on lockdown then today would be the very earliest we might get something in the mail. I know we're all a bit on edge waiting to hear any updates, but hopefully one of us will hear from our loved one today or tomorrow and update everyone else!

i am also new here. im in the inland empire and have no idea where ctf is or how long the drive. also whats the difference between ctf and salinas valley prison is it the same ?

Welcome.
It is about a 6 hour drive. CTF and Salinas are right next to each other. Salinas is a max security prison, CTF is a lower level prison. If you have any other questions ask away.
