My man is at Grimes and they are writing him up constantly for little stupid stuff or stuff he doesn't do. Does anyone else have problems with the guards up there?? What can I do about it? He was written up for a 3way call that we didn't make, for laying on top of his blanket and only under the sheet, and for "stealing" a radio (a guy let him borrow it and when they got caught the other guy said it was stolen so he wouldn't get in trouble) and has been on restrictions for like 5 weeks and has another 5 to go..plus he just got called in for another write up. My man doesn't even have a bad attitude..he always just sucks everything up and goes on. I know for sure he is in trouble..I've called and asked if he was on restrictions..but I dont know if he is telling me the truth about what is happening. Does anybody else have problems like this? Also he's had a reallly bad tooth for a month and a half any they won't look at it. He is getting sicker and sicker from it..its turned into a sore throat and his ears hurt. Who do I call to get that taken care of?
hotchic I had typed a big ole reply to your question and the PTO gremlin ate it.
No my son has not had much problems with the COs at Grimes. Overall I have found them a decent bunch. Always polite and helpful. Of course he has those he likes and those he does not like. We have to schedule our visit on the weekend the group he likes is in charge but that is his preference and we let him control this little bit of his life because he can.
Voice your concerns about the lack of medical care your loved one is getting. Just pick up the phone and start from there. It is very hard to talk to the warden I have found because it seems he is seldom in .....hmmmmm. But while my son was still in county jail and not receiving adequate medical care, I notified the medical director at Pine Bluff and got results immediately. If you don't get satisifaction from talking to the warden or deputy warden at Grimes, don't stop there. Mr Norris himself has heard from me. Believe me it helps and seems to work. Heck I have even contacted the Governor. We are kind of helpless and all we have are our voices and the ability to type letters and to send e-mails. But if they know someone cares about that inmate and will not sit quietly by, I believe they tend to try harder to shut us up.
Those things you described your man is getting written up for are definitely infractions and he should have been aware. They do have some strange rules but I cannot say they are stupid because I am sure they have justification for them. I do know when you are an inmate, stupid rules or not, you are better off following them. It is sad about the radio. But he might be better off not borrowing from anyone and trusting few if any. He was also unlucky enough to be dealing with a CO or COs who for some reason is not giving him any slack and letting him off with a verbal.
I am sorry he is suffering and I definitely know how painful those dental problems can be. I know you worry about him and feel helpless. Hang in there hotchic and hopefully things will get better soon.
