Does anyone know if writing to the SOSRA committee helps with classification, unit assignment, etc. Or does it hurt the inmate to send letters???

I do know that if your loved one is at the PB Unit he is at a good unit and it is nicer then any of the others. I t is considered a privledge to be there. i know the Major who is on the classifvation board and he is a fair man as long as the inmate is straight with him and does not cause any probles. The Warden I will keep my remarks about him to myself but i think he is a idoit I had worked under four wardens and he was the worst. ( enough said ) They will assign him in a job that will be probably preety good because the unit is set up differant then the other prisons so i would not rock the boat he is in a good place.

I have a question for you since you worked for the ADC. If someone is charged with simultaneous poss of a drug and fire arm, can they still be eligible for the yearly EPA? My fiance has that charge plus the poss, dist charge and got 10 years on both. His pe state is not until 7-26-2010. Even though he did not have a gun, they charged him with it due to the hunting guns that were at his parents house that he was staying at at the time. But he was not home when he was busted. Anyhow, he was told no by another inmate but a guard told him it would not make him ineligible for it. he is at Benton work release and doing really well. he will be free world job ready the end of Oct. he is in very good standing with the lieutenants and the Warden. Never had even one write up and has been in since 1-15. Just hoping to get some info on that. thanks so much.

They are right with what they told him but the prison cannot determine when a person is released that is up to the Parole board. The cleaner he keeps his record on the inside the better it will be for him when he does go before the board. Sounds like he is doing good but I would not suggest that he gets to cozy with the staff they like to use people up then throw them away when they are finished with them so tell him to always never put to much trust in the staff some of them are worse then the guys he serves time with.
