I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself on the CA threads. I wasn't sure where to put this, since my inmate doesn't currently reside in CA. He was with the first wave of volunteers to transfer out of state last November. He's in TN now, but before that he has spent time in PB and Ironwood. I live in VA, he lives in TN, but he's a CA inmate - all very confusing when it comes to figuring out what applies to him and what doesn't.

I met him in high school 16 years ago. I am still learning all of this prison stuff with him, and am looking forward to learning as much as I can from some of your stories. At the same time, while I still have a lot to learn, I have gained some knowledge of the whole out-of-state thing, specifically for TN. He is happy with his decision to transfer, so if any of you have a loved one possibly facing a transfer, I'd be happy to answer any questions I can on the matter.

I have a long way to wait, so I am sure there will be days when I'll need support or advice. His current ERD is set ofr 2017. There was a time when the thought of waiting for him was out of the question, but I love him, he completes me, he's my soul mate, and all that other cliche stuff! :p Now, my resistance has worn down and we do plan on marrying while he's still in - something I never thought I'd have to consider in my life. But there you have it.
