I am not familiar to Solano. I called the recording and they are ticketing cars outside the prison. Where should I park? I can only go on Fridays. Is the visiting crowded on Fridays? What is the best time to get there? Every prison is so different and after 19 years it still gets confusing every transfer. I could really use some help on this.

I haven't visited on Fridays, but on the weekends, I know the city tickets cars that park along Peabody Road. (I think there used to be cars lined up there waiting for the gates to open.) There is quite a bit of parking in the visitors parking lot plus overflow. Has anyone visited on Fridays that can help with this?

This info may be too late for you, but here's my experience...

You can enter the prison grounds about 15 minutes before visiting, as per the recording (the last time I listenend to it!). You park, then line up under the big tarp thingy. They will hand out passes there. They don't hand them out as you drive in anymore.

Once they hand out the numbered passes (one to each adult, no getting one for a friend), they start calling you in in groups of about 10.

It seems to work pretty well, even without parking along Peabody...no major incidences that I've heard of! Even though everyone's rolling up at the same time and creating a line along Peabody, no one's parking...thus, no tickets.

You just have to guage your time...I usually come from Starbucks and just make sure I'm rolling into the line at the correct time. I'm never trying to be the first in line...I think I've hit the lottery if I'm in the top 60! :)
