Since the holidays are around the corner, I was wondering if Texas lets approved visitors send packages in. I know in Washington they have a special vendor list for just the holidays to be able to send things in.
I am interested as I would like to send a food package to my penpal for the holidays.
Thanks

You won't be allowed to send any food in. Only books and writing supplies from an approved vendor are allowed. If in doubt about what books he can have be sure and call the unit and ask so you won't waste your money on something that isn't allowed.

I sent my love one a package a few weeks ago that included 12 writing gummed tablets, 2 boxes of envalopes, white typing paper, a calendar, and 2 journals. He recieved the items with no problems. Food I'm sure is not allowed or hygiene products only writing material coming from the vendor I used Staples and had no problem. I have also used Borders Books and had no problems.

During the Holidays they have extra things in the commissary that they can buy, extra sweets that they don't usually have and I think also things like "summer sausage". Also, my husband told me that this year the commissary at Allred has what he referred to as "Holiday baskets" - Now I doubt that they are actual "baskets" but more like different collections of special Holiday goodies that they can buy. So you might want to put some extra money in his trust fund so he can get the food goodies that way. That's part of what I'm gonna do
