My brother in law is up in Lancaster, CA. He is in reception at the moment and my in-laws want to visit him.. but it's nearly impossible to get through:eek: !! Can someone help me out, or give me some tips:thumbsup: or even TRICKS on how I can get through!! I am calling 661-723-8333. Am I calling the correct number

I'm sorry I can't help more but until someone else comes along have you tried the toll-free CDCR Visiting Info number listed in the Visiting Guidelines on the CDCR website (http://www.cdcr.ca.gov/Visitors/Facilities/LAC.html): (800)374-8474. This provides visiting info for all CDCR prisons. The only other contact number I can find for LAC is:

MY SON IS ALSO IN RECEPTION ITS REALLY HARD TO GET THROUGH BUT THIS IS THE NUMBER THAT I CALLED661-729-2000 EXT 5889 YOU HAVE TO KEEP TRYING BECAUSE ITS ALWAYS BUSY DIAL THE EXT# AS SOON AS THE INFO COMES OUT IT TAKES ME LIKE 40 MINUTES TO GET THROUGH AND ALSO FOR RECEPTION YOU NEED TO CALL THURSDAYS.

i believe you have to call on a certain day depending on what yard he is in. i will be going this weekend and i will try to check the days.

Actually I'm sorry I live in the High Desert but I can ask the other visitors who come to see where they live, or do you have the metrolink there in Glendora? If so I can pick you up from the Metro in Lancaster. I'm sorry I wish I could of helped you but don't give up and I'll keep trying to find someone for you. I know how you feel not to long ago my car broke down and was looking to carpool also.

The best number to call is the main prison number
661-729-2000 press 0 for operator and ask her for all the extensions to visiting. there are 4 different numbers to try if you get a busy signal press * and try to next. Keep doing so till you get thru.

Also they can not go until they have been approved and it takes 6-8 weeks to do so. They have to have been sent a visiting request form by the inmate with his signature.

Lancanster is slow and the visiting is only 30 min. You have to wait a long time just to get that 30 min too. If you need anything else Pm me.

HI, MY NAME IS VIVIAN, MY BOYFRIEND IS IN LANCASTER FOR RECEPTION TOO AND I JUST RECIEVED A LETTER FROM HIM TODAY FROM WHAT HE WROTE THEY CANNOT GET VISITS OR A PHONE CALL FOR 2 TO 3 MONTHS HE HAS BEEN THERE BEFORE AND SO FAR THATS THE WAY IT GOES HOPE THIS INFO HELPS!!:thumbsup:

my boyfriend is in Lancaster, still in reception. Once you are approved, you have to make your appointment by calling 661-729-2000 ext. 5889 I can only make my appointments on Friday and I believe it is that way for all the guys in reception. It took almost 2 months for me to get approved. He just saw his counselor last week and it could still take 8 weeks for him to get transferred out of reception. After that he should be able to make phone calls and have longer visits (contact instead of through the glass!)
