They Go By Last 2 numbers of his CDC 1 day a week..
Visiting is Friday, Saturday, or Sunday...

Hi, everyone. Visiting has been far better at CRC than where we came from. At least in the "place on the hill". It is more relaxing. But, seems to be getting more crowded. I guess our hope of having more days per week probally have dwindled?

Trinismom, I'm sorry that you have to travel so far. I know how that is...driving, or flying, renting a car, spending money on a place to stay. It gets so expensive,.and nerve racking.
The only thing about visiting I have had trouble with, (and they don't tell you on the visiting info) is that you have to arrive before 10:00 on the weekends or you have to wait until after 12:00. I learned the hard way. Oh yeah, and I was told no hoods on jackets. Like a velour outfit I wore. (I didn't know that)

I think its good, because alot of people ask the same redundant questions over and over and now we can direct them to one place for those questions--instead of if you look down on this thread or if you go to the next page you will see crc section and etc.... Hey Ladies -- this is great news that we have a CRC forum now -- Let's make sure to keep it going and active! I have a question for those of you who visit regularly. Where do you get the ducats to buy the polaroid pictures? There's some kind of machine in the visitor check-in room that is always broken, so I've been thinking there wouldn't be any pictures taken. But during our visits, they've been taking family pictures anyway. Do I need to ask at the desk to buy the ducats? I never seem to remember to do it when I get there, but then I remember when I see the photographer! Thanks for any help you can give me

Im not complaining, but why do people not look for CRC forum on here and post questions in here, instead of making a new thread? I mean, I know the answer and I have brains, but wheres the knowledge.. I'm curious, what makes an inmate ineligalbe or Eligible to be transferred to CRC?

So I have never been to Norco. My husband was just moved there and he came from Ironwood and visiting was ok there. I was wondering if you are within the guidelines there are cases where cops try to find any excuse to make you chnge. Is that the case here? I have clothes that don't violate te dress code, but sometimes they say my jeans are too tight. Which they are not. Do they give you a hard time. I was also wondering. What exactly is the visiting like just any info that you may have. It's a new world for me. What kind of food. I know its probably microwave food. What is the best time to go. I live fairly close, but what session is better on weekends morning or afternoon. Also what Friday is like. For infants, what is needed? Does the guidelines apply to them as well. You can pm me. But I am sure all info will be helpful for everyone. Thank you so much.

I wanted to order my son a guitar. It said that you may need the warden's permission, so I called and talked to someone at the company. They said that you have to contact CRC and have it done through the trust account, that the prison basically has to order it?

Im glad we have a forum for CRC. My husband was transfered from Centinela to CRC about a month ago. I went to visit for the first time and it was great. Visiting was a lot different from what I'm used to but it was coo'. I also live in the San Diego area (south bay) if anyone needs a ride. I'm coo' with that. My son and brother both mailed in their visiting forms to visit their brother and nephew at the same time. We finally got the approval for my brother, but haven't heard anything about my son's approval.
It's been about 2 months. Does it usually take that long?

Grrrrrrrrrrr.....Does it work like every other prison and they let him out and like 6 in the morning? I have no clue!!

The Process Is The Same As Other Prisons, He Has To Get Approved By His Counselor And Then Fill Out The Family Visiting Application And Send To Ms Brown, The Fam Viz Coord. Her Number Is 9517372683 Ext 3399 And Shes Off On Tue And Weds In Case You Wanted To Call Her, Good Luck!

If the counselor will not call you back I would suggest asking for another counselor! Have him request a new counselor...

My husband was released from Norco in March of this year. He did his entire 4 year bid there. If anyone has any questions - feel free to PM me. I have accumulated telephone extensions at Norco over the years, and I know many members of the staff there.

Releases: My husband hit the street around 11 am - and they were "about an hour" delayed. I guess it was supposed to be around 9 am...

Its prison. They are rough everywhere. My husband tells me very little of the gory details of his time at CRC, but from what I have heard, it was pretty tame in comparison to other prisons.

Hey Ladies.....so at some point in the future i might become a CRC "g/f"!!!! My man is at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison in Blythe right now and the visiting is really mellow but its sooooo expensive with the gas, hotel, food, etc. Norco is only about an hour from me so it will save me a TON of $$$$. He mentioned that he might be able to transfer to CRC when he gets down to 2 or 2 1/2 years left on his sentence...has anyone heard of that or can he transfer now? If he does transfer, he will most likely go to the SNY. I was reading a lot of the posts on here about visiting and stuff so i think i have a pretty good understanding about it. But if im correct, i think theres a diff parking lot for mainline and SNY...is that true??? and if it is, do we line up in the same line on the hill? ANY info would be great!!!!

I found out today that he may not even get in because he still has to "apply" to see if he is eligable. Why would this be? Is getting accepted to CRC not a sure thing? if people come together to see the same inmate, one has the option to leave earlier; however if the prison is booting the group out then all has to leave..
if people come separate and they visit the same inmate you have the option in leaving or stating.. depends on how backed it is...

Hey everyone my fiance has been at crc for a couple of months now and im finally going to be able to visit him! Hopefuly this weekend. And I've been reading the previous post as far as what we can wear. Can anyone help me out? Like can we take black jeans or absolutely no jeans aloud regardless the color? Do you girls go all dressed up in heels and dressy clothes or what do you usualy take to go see your men? Any help i can get will be apreciated.

Hockey Wifey, I have not been there for several years, but will be going again. I can tell you for certain that I won't be dressing up. It is so dirty there. If it is a day that you will be seated outdoors, I don't know that you would want to wear heels.

I'm sure someone will be along to read this to tell you what they wear.

well he saw his counsler on the 22 ish of JAN and she said that he will go to either CRC or lancaster...LA I am so shotting for Norco because I live in MOval...where do you live maybe we can carpool ...even though it is only about 35 min away form me...which I would love if he is sent there.....Please Lord...pretty please...

I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH MY HUBBY WHO TOLD ME THAT THEY NOTIFIED 20 INMATES (WHO HAD LESS THAN 1 YEAR LEFT ON THEIR TERMS) THAT THEY ARE GOING HOME (EARLY RELEASES). 2 OF THEM WERE RELEASED TODAY (THERE RELEASE DATE WAS JUNE '08)- SUPPOSEDLY THESE ARE AS A RESULT OF ARNOLD'S RELEASE PLAN- GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!:thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :D :D :D

Are these early releases due to the recalculation of sentences? That makes the most sense, because the legislature hasn't voted yet on the early release/cap yet.

My girlsfriends husband is at firecamp and the same thing has happened to some of the guys there just within the last two weeks. They got letters in the mail with new parole dates!!!!!!!!

I'm sure these releases aren't 'early' releases. These are more than likely inmates who are FINALLY getting their CORRECT parole dates. Literally hundreds, if not thousands, of inmate release dates were miscalculated and CDC is now having to do mass recalculations on them all.

The early releases that Ahnold proposed have to be approved by the entire legislature and they aren't even set to vote on that until March.

However, this is excellent news for all the inmates statewide who are actually PAST their correct release dates. Congrats to them and to their families!!!

Here's some visiting info...just in case it might be useful to someone.

When you call the visiting hotline, facility 4's schedule is not included. Their visiting schedule is different. Many of you probaly know this, but I did not. They do not give any visiting information for facility 4. It was very confusing and sadly kept me from visiting today.

well i have never visited him only when he was in county jail and that was only 2 times :(. Yeah i know i dont want to go alone too lol so just let me know when you get approved.:thumbsup: when i send him the QP do you know how long it will take for him to receive. I dont even know what he wants and i dont want to waiste money on something he wont like not that he's picky but i want to send him what he wants is there anyway that he can see like a list or something or print one out im just clueless on this ive never done it befor lol.

SaNdiA and MizzGomez, just a heads-up to let you know that visiting at CRC is soooo much less intimidating than at any of the other institutions I have visited in the CDRC. When you get there and park, you will see where the people are congregated who are waiting to get in. There will be several CO's outside and all of them are very nice, very helpful. Ask which one you will need to see to get your slip (the thingie on which you write out your information--can't think of what it is called.) Each slip is numbered which keeps your place in line. After you fill it out, the CO's on the outside will wand you and then you will stand in line, if there are those ahead of you, until the guy in the tower will yell down how many can enter. You cross the road and enter the gates to the little processing building.

In that building, you put your slip and identification in a basket until they call you. Going through the metal detector is a breeze. You do not have to take your shoes off. None of my jewelry, watch, etc. set off the alarm. The visiting center is just behind the intake room.

All in all, it is much more laid back than Chino or any of the other places I have had to visit. I went to visit my son today. I think on the Sat. and Sun. visits there are more people who visit than on Fridays.

Well I have two kids 3 and 1 and I want to only take my daughter the 3 year old but not my son I think he will get impatient, well can you walk around or do you have to stay in one place? How old is your son sandia? How does the visiting work with the cdc#??

Ladies, They have a system using the last two digits of the CDC #'s to determine visitation days. Perhaps by now you have discovered when you may visit your men. I have no clue as to how they do the rotation. For example yesterday was visitation for my son's group and next week it is supposed to be on Sun.

Remember that on Fridays the hours are noon to 7PM and on Sat./Sun. the hours are from 8AM to 3PM.

As for the kids visiting..........There isn't run-around room, but if you choose to sit outside, there is a lot of space where I saw folks walking around. You can always get up to walk to the vending machines. When you get into the Visiting room you are asked if you want to sit inside or outside, but once you make a choice, you can't change your mind and request to go to a different place. However, we were seated inside and we went outside to check out the vending machines and got to stretch our legs a bit. I think it would be O.K. for your little ones, unless you want to go alone the first time and see how it works.

BTW, they had the visiting hotline # posted in several places. I did not jot it down, but you might want to check out the info. posted here to find it.

They have a big no-no posted: no hoods on jackets, sweatshirts, etc.

MizzG, I have been surprised by the low rates for calls. So far, only one has shown up from Norco and it was $3.65. I am assuming it will be approximately the same as it was from Chino. I think that last one was 14 minutes. The 15 min. calls from Chino were $3.75.

MizzG, I live in south Orange County. I had to set up a separate account with GTL because my phone issuer is cable and GTL doe not have a contract with them so they can't bill me through my home phone.
I called GTL and prepaid using my credit card. They did not charge me any fees whatsoever.

Also, you can go online to check your account and see how many minutes you have used, etc.

My son's girlfriend's home phone is AT&T and she is billed through them so she never had to deal with GTL. She lives in Culver City and she gets charged the same amount that I do.

Find out if your phone company is able to bill you for GTL.

SaNdiA, you can stay the entire visiting time--unless as the day wears on the Visiting area is filled to capacity and more visitors arrive. (Example: you were the first person processed through at 8:15AM and at 1:00PM more visitors arrive. You will have to leave before the end so that the others can have a visit.)

If you have SBC, AT&T or Verizon they bill directly with GTL.

I won't be lingering here or anywhere today. I got such a late start today. I have been soooo busy this last week that I am exhausted. Today was my boy's visiting day, but I decided not to go. His GF went so I don't feel bad about not seeing him this week.

I have to accomplish something today, but I'll be back later.

My loved one just got moved to CRC last week. Wednesday was the first time that I was able to talk to him since November. I signed up for GTL and got the $100 for 12 calls.... but they said after that I would go onto a bill plan. Today they put a block on my phone even though the way the lady explained it to me was I would get my 12 calls and then an additional 12 calls after that because they would start to bill me. But then it would go back to 12 call limit next month..... I am so frustrated because if I would have known it was only going to be 12 calls total this month we would have spaced out how often he called. Has anyone else had this happen to them... or does anyone know what I can do? Thanks so much!!!!

Okay, maybe I've missed something. Today was my son's visiting day. I called visiting before I left for visiting, since it's a long drive, just to make sure that no problems have occured that would effect visiting.
I was denied a visit because he was working.
I never knew that they could be working on a Sunday, their visiting day.
Has anyone else experienced this? Did you all know this? I feel stupid.
The first CO said that I could stay until 2:30 and go into visiting then.
But then the sargent who came out, said that I was lying, and that the CO never would have said that. Well, I did not lie, and the CO certainly did say that. I was so PO'd. I'm a senior citizen and this guy got in my face. I have never been treated like that at CRC.

Yes, Global Tel Link is a nightmare. I've paid our phone bills on time for over 35 years. We've had the same phone number for 22 years.
I am fairly new to the prison system. When GTL took over recently my phone was blocked. They said that they do not contract with other phone companies and that I would have to set up an account directly with them. I authorized them to charge my credit card 100.00. They charged 200.00. Then, the bill was due on 12/24. And even though I thought I should still have a credit, I mailed them a check on 12/17, two days after the bill arrived. They did not post the payment until 12/26 because of the holiday and then placed a block on our phone saying it was late. I sure would like to know what other companies might be associated with this company so that I could boycott. I've written letters to the PUC and to UCAN. Of course, so far it just falls on deaf ears.
But I'm hearing you and they told me the same exact thing.

Global Tel bills directly through AT&T, SBC and Veirzon, if you do not have those acocunts then you have to do prepiad. I guess I am a lucky one because I have not had any trouble with them

verizen is also mci. if u have a different company then u pay a 1 time prepaid amount (50 is 6 calls, 100 is 12 calls, and 250 is 30 calls) thats the max. then every month u get a bill from gtl. hope this helps a little

Yeah, I know they put the block if you exceeded the calls. I beleive if you exceed 25.00 in one day you are blocked so if the call's are $5.30 a call and you call 5 times then you are blocked, if you exceed 100.00 a month without being prepaid you are blocked.

I think he may be correct. When my son first arrived, I was allowed to visit any day the first week.

The number to visiting is 9517372683 and follow prompts to visiting or ext 2930 for LT Alexi (the visiting LT) and leave a message anytime and he will call you back. As far as courtesy visits, i have heard of them happening, but not very often and they are not guaranteed. It is pretty much the luck of the draw, unless you are over 250 miles away, they may make an exception but again, that's not guaranteed. The visiting schedule is determined by the last 2 digits of the cdc number, there are 4 facilities 1,2,3 and 4. facilities 1,2,and 3 have one schedule they go by and facility 4 has a different schedule which you can hear if you call 800 374-8474 and then press 1, 6, 5 to get crc visiting info, hope this helps ya out!

take the 60 to the 15.. the visiting there is alright. many c.o.'s are rude and they take forever to get processed in. if it gets over crowded, then they say number ex:1-50 time to go, say your good byes now. etc. the food is the same at every other prison. once you see the street to get off at make a right go all the way until you hit the fire department and make a left. go up the hill until you see a line of cars. thats were you park at.. oh and the stupid thing is they go by the last 2 digits of there cdc number... if your last 2 cdc number isnt within the day, no visit

call the 1800 number and it tells you the information about what day to visit. i believe if im not mistaken its 1800 something. sorry, but its automatically programed in my phone, so i dont remember it.. hold up its 18003748474 and i think its 1-6-5 press the numbers. if not just listen to the recording and follow the directions.

hello, just curious where you got this info from? I'm with the ifc at norco and we haven't been informed of any accident or possible death on facility 4, please advise so i can get additional info for family members who are worried about there loved ones. thank you

Apparently, this incident just occured this morning. It came from a reliable source.
The inmates room # will tell you what facility they are in. Example: rm 205 would mean that they are housed in facility 2.
I hope this is correct. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

It is very upsetting to our guys when they have seen something like this happen. Especially, seeing that the response time is so bad. If you don't hear from them it's probally because there is an investagation taking place, not because they are hurt.

The Latest Is That There Was An Inmate Who Died On The Yard Yesterday, Apparently From A Heart Attack. They Are Off Lockdown, However, Inmates Who Are Trying To Call Out Are Receiving A Message Saying "the Number Your Calling Is Not Authorized". Some Inmates Have Been Able To Get Through, But Its Very Random. Gtl Has Been Notified That The Inmates Are Not Able To Call Out, However If Anyone Else Wants To Call And Complain The Number To Gtl Is 800-231-0193. Hopefully The Problem Can Be Fixed Soon.

So how is processing for visiting? This will be my first visit at this facility. My husband just came from SCC. There it was a lottery, you entered with the number you picked. Is it first come, first serve at CRC?

I read this whole thread and its interesting to see the comments from those of you who have been on visits. So far on this journey with my husband, I have been from Corcoran to Sierra Conservation Center to now, Norco. I live in the central valley, just 25 minutes from SCC. Now I am 6 hrs away and getting on the road Thursday night to visit on Friday. I know this is going to be an adventure in itself but there is nothing I wouldn't do for my man. I know visiting and being that positive support is very important. I used to be able to go every weekend (because he was so close to me) but now, our visiting will be few and far between. Gas is Crazy Expensive, and I have two teenage athletes in the middle of a track and field season. If you don't mind, please keep me (Nikki) in your prayers while I'm on the road on Thursday. Pray I make it safe and don't get lost! Thank you for your support, I will do the same for all of you.

A friend of mine went into CRC at the beginning of March. I have sent him paper, stamps, envelopes, letters, more paper and stamps, envelopes... I always send the mail in seperate envelopes in the event something is going to be rejected, at least he will get something.

I have been getting mail from him fairly regularly. Always in the state issued type of envelopes that they give when the inmate does not have his own. In the last letter I got from him, he said that he hopes the mail is just slow and that he has not been forgotten about. Indicating to me, he still has not gotten mail.

I phoned the mail room and they told me all the mail was caught up and gets sent out to the CO's daily. Mail room told me I needed to talk to a CO or his counsler. I called back, they said I could not speak to a CO, it was not an emergency and that the counslers had gone home.

His housing starts with 106. He just got there the first of March.

If the mail room had said, "yes, we are behind, be patient" I could understand. But for them to tell me all the mail is caught up and he should be getting his mail, bothers me.

Can anybody tell me the mail turn around time, or delivery time from when you mail a letter.?

Or who to contact to check on what the heck is going on?

Hello Ladies, well im gonna finally visit my baby after 6 long looong lol months.... I was wondering if I can wear flats or are they not allowed?? Im wearing all black so im sure I won't have any problems with that but I just don't know about the shoes..... thank you I will most likely be there within the next 2 weeks so wish me luck and hope I don't get lost im bad at directions lol.......

Then what? I never got farther than that. The officer came up to each car that day and told us there was no visiting. Where do we go after that? When do we get the slips to put his information on in order to process? Does it take forever? And can we wear flip-flops? At Corcoran you couldn't but at SCC you could, what does CRC say?

any info about crc is great info does anyone know if you are out on bail and you are sentenced to do your time in crc is someone suppost to evaluate you before you get to the county jail or after you are in county and do they make you go to your local prison and then transpack from were you are at or will they take you from the county to crc??? I have been approved to visit!! Here is why it is such great news, I have been arrested several times, have more then one felony on my record. I am off probation, have never been to prison, just county jail.

I sent my visiting form to the warden's office, with a letter detailing all of my arrests and the outcome of them. And asked permission. About a week later, I got the approval letter.

If I recall correctly, once approved at one prison it is much easier to get approved at another.:thumbsup:

Well, I'm new to Norco too. I actually went to visit once but never got to do that (traveling 6 hours) because there was a statewide lockdown in the beginning of April. Nevertheless, you should read through this whole thread, there is alot of your answers already on here. After you do that, you might still have questions like I did. Have a blessed day!

the numbers are the last two numbers of their cdc number
they alternate visiting days
like this upcoming weekend its
friday may 2: 50-99
saturday may 3: 00-24
sunday may 4: 25-49
there isnt alot of drama at Norco from what ive seen. i really like the visting compared to other prisons, everyone is nice and extremely helpful.
just stay away from any colors the inmates or COs wear
like all shades of blue, orange, dark green, or khaki

Overall it is much better than the other institutions that my husband has been at, i have not experienced any drama like the other jails, the line starts at 7 they let u in at 8 or 730, the processing is fast, they are very leniant as far as dress code in comparision the a level 3. U can wear a wire bra and sandals without a back, they also have an okay staff and it is nioce bcse u can go outside and visit in a huge patio andf they have visits on fridays from 12-7 so its a lot different, Overall i like it much better, i go at 9 am and am processed with my husband by 930. its great, the food also vending machine but they have salads and suchi, its ok not my choice but its not too bad. I came from washington state to visit my husband, I was lucky to get two days with him. The first day was a friday and I arrived at 10:00 am that was plenty of time, I was #13 in line. I wore a grey little t-shirt and a cotton skirt, they wouldn't except the grey shirt because of its color. So I had a black conservative dress in the car but that wasn't sufficent either because if i lifted my arms you could see my under arm and that wasn't acceptable. I ended up driving to Target down the street! This was my first time ever visiting a prison, so I was bothe excited and really nervous. I quickly learned that I really had nothing to worry about. The color white is not allowed either from what I understand. Everyone was very helpful. The time went by amazing fast, the whole weekend was just a blur. I wondered if any of the women there that day participated on PTO!

I do have a question to ask. My husband was excluded from C.R.C. and has to back to county jail and will more than likely be shipped to another prison to serve the rest of his sentence. He was sentenced to 6 years but they suspended it and sent him to C.R.C. to complete the program as opposed to doing the 6 years. Have an of you experienced the same thing?

Judeca, I forgot to mention that Saturdaymorning I arrived, against the CO's advice of 3:00 a.m.! at 4:45 a.m. and slept in the car while I waited. My father and I was number 8 & 9 in line. I was suprised that the cars actually lined up very quickly. I awoke to a few nice gentlemen offering coffee and doughnuts to the families waiting in the cars. The sunrise was beautiful, I got emotional seeing it knowing my husband was close by. (I wonder if he saw that sunset.) Two really lovely women who were the first car in line actually arrived at midnight! I don't think arriving that early is necessary though. When I saw all of these families line up and as early as we did I looked at my dad with a smile on my face and said 'what we do for love!'

I think it means Failure to List all of the person's arrests who wants to visit. If you can not get ahold of the prison to find out how to re apply, this is what I did, I wrote a letter to the warden, I listed all my arrests and the outcome of each, like if I did time in custody, probation, bail. I also listed the people I have visited in prisons in the past.. just go over the form item by item and if you have any responses that require extra space, include those answers in a letter addressed to the warden.

Then send the letter and your form, besure you list all arrests and if you are on probation now, you will need to get permission from your probation officer first, but I have gotten permission while on probation before.

I got my approval in just a few weeks. (It was a letter from the warden's office.)

well about ordering a tv, they dont have to get permission, they just call it special purchase because it doesn't count toward their quarterly package which means you can order without worrying about the weight or anything like that. their is a bunch of other things you can order as special purchase things like stereos, fans, tv's , etc.

i actually just was really curios about the user sandia, i see you're from long beach. well currently i'm near san diego in the border of mex. been here for about 10 months or so but i'm from long beach lived there all my life and my man is too. actually i still go to lbc about twice a month at least. well i guess what i'm wondering is if your man is from long beach too, cuz you know how its in there usually they try and find other inmates from around their home town, i guess they feel more like at home. my man sometimes tells me about people he runs into in there that are from lbc, some of them friends of his that i've met before or something so i'm curios if maybe i know you or your man maybe their buddies in there....

Get ready to set-up your account with GTL that is the only way you'll receive phone calls from your man. Generally, they can call up until 9:30pm. On weekends it can go longer just depends on the dorm and CO that's on duty. Honestly, mail is at a snail's pace in there. The mail gets to us on the outside faster than what we send to them.

you only can visit one day out of the 3 days they offer. if you call the 1800 number they will tell yo what cdc number and what day you cn go visitll
