There have got to be some people on this site that have loved ones in an Alberta institution!!! Mine is in Bowden Institution and im living in Medicine Hat but make frequent trips to Calgary for visiting! Crossing my fingers that there is someone close to me out there going through the same thing!:D

Mine is in Fort Saskatchewan but that may change. I am in Edmonton so not that close to you but hey...we are going through the same thing.

hey, my boyfriend is in Bowden.

I think Bowden Istituition is in lockdown. because I haven't received a phone call in the last couple days. my phone is not cut off and I am not owing money. Bowden was on lock down last weekend. I hate when they have lock down. I feel so fricken sad when I don't get a call. I don't know what the hell is happening. hopefully in the morning I will get a call. or I am going to call there to ask whats going on.

I do I have a brother in Drumheller and I live in Edmonton. I make a trip up there every two weeks to visit

bowden just got out of lockdown this evening thursday january28,2009 they been on lockdown since monday evening.

I live near Medicine Hat. My BF is in Ontario but has put in for a transfer to Bowden.
I haven't heard from him since Friday morning (Jan. 30) because of a lockdown. I know the feeling when you talk about not getting a call and feeling sad.
Scott and I talk at least once a day, most days twice (not including the letters and cards we exchange). I mss him with all I am. He keeps me sane. :)

Just this morning we were informed that my fiance is getting transfered tomorrow morning from sask penn to edmonton max. Does anyone know how long i'm gonna have to wait before I can go see him?? Last time I had a contact visit with him was in Oct. I feel like i'm gonna lose my mind if I have to wait any longer

Well you'll need to get a visiting application...and it usually takes about 3-4weeks to get approved...my man is at Edmonton Max too :)

see thats the thing, we've already been approved. we have had numerous visits when he was in sask pen, they told me that i would be able to visit him right away and they told him that he was going to have to wait a few weeks before he could get visits again. (some crap about the transfer)
my fiance has been in seg since nov and was just told that, that is where he is going to stay for the remainder of his sentence ( dec 2011). does any1 know if hes going to be able to take his courses??? i know here in sask they couldnt take the classes if they were in seg. his first p.o he had told him that if he got into the classes right away and completed them that he could look at being out in april 2010. hopefully some1 might be able to give me a little more insight :)

My man is in Drumheller (he was at Remand before going to Drum)... He's coming home by the end of next month (March 2009)... by that time it will be almost a year without seeing him at all.. just phone calls... Spoke to him not long ago and he's starting to have jitters... getting more and more impatient with the fact that he's "in cage"... and his SR's in a few weeks from now...

We're in Edmonton and counting weeks... then we'll count the days...

I just cant believe a year has almost gone by... painful year I must say... nonetheless, I salute all the ppl that their loved ones are inside for many many years... I have to specially salute a very strong woman who's strength is exemplary... my good friend "Jayluvsme"... amazing lady who has a lot of faith and courage to go on day after day and being such a strong force for her husband and her little munchkins... and to me too... she's such a great support... Thanks so much Jayluvsme!!! Love you to bits!!!...

It's tough, but you can all make it through... just hang in there and dont stay silent when things go wrong.. open up to somebody... get the support... just dont stay in your corner...

Transfers can be a tremendous PITA, and you could very well end up having to go through the whole application process again. I hate to be a black cloud, but its always better to be prepared for these things.

Hi,my man is in Calgary Correctional Centre.I'm in Olds which is close but I don't drive so I don't see him much.I'm really looking for some friends that are going through the same thing.I have never had to deal with a man that I love being locked up and I feel like I'm losing my mind.My phone is through shaw and they don't allow collect calls so I can't even talk to him.PLEASE HELP ME GET THROUGH THIS

And reallynew - you should get your phone switched over to Telus, they also provide cable and internet.. and they allow collect.
