WHICH JAIL, PRISON, OR PENETENTIARY???
&& i went on google and searched up all i could,
but im really lost, it seems impossible to find exactly
where he is?!? =[
funnyface09 11-05-2007, 03:11 PM Is Ottawa in Canada? Or is it in the states? If it is in Canada, you might try the Canada Forum to find out how to find an inmate there. Otherwise go to the State that Ottawa is in and ask there.
Good luck and Welcome to PTO!

dancinggal 11-06-2007, 02:35 PM Hi Miiia,
We don't have online inmate locators in Canada like they do in the States. First off, has Leo been sentenced yet or is the 4-5 years still a guess at this point? It really hasn't been that long since he got arrested because sometimes these things can drag out for a while. So I'm wondering if he could still be waiting for sentencing? Either way it would give a better idea of which type of facility to start looking at. Hang in there!
Miiia 11-09-2007, 10:38 AM THe 4-5 YEARS is a GUESS at this point but APPARENTLY,
LEO is doing 4-5 years in Ottawa somewhere for robbing a bank..
and YESTERDAy, i actually called a lot of places, i called the toronto police and they transferred me to the Corrections Canada office, and when i talked to the CCO, they said, they need the FULL name of Leo, including his lastname so the guy was like, "SORRY I CANT HELP YOU THERE, i can only make a search for an inmate if you have the FULL NAME, i can't just search up LEO'S.."... i was STUNNED... but its true tho.
now there is 2 options, to go to his house and talk to his parents, ill go with my DAD, even though his parents have no clue as to who i am.. or find out his full name through friends of friends. =S
dancinggal 11-09-2007, 11:39 AM Okay. If you manage to get his full name and still don't know where he is, hop back online here and we can try and figure out what facility he might be in. Feel free to PM me if you'd rather do it that way.
robbreid 11-15-2007, 03:04 AM You seem to missing lots of information for a direct answer.
If he was arrested on July 4th, any lawyer, police, legal aid, parole office, court, would have all directed you to the local pretrial centre in Ottawa, listed in your local phone book, and also in this forum.
How do you know he was sentenced to 4-5 years???, and for what type of charge???, as this may determine where he is sent.
If he did 4-5 years, I'll assume he was denied bail at the pretrial centre, I'll assume you did not go to court, I'll assume his charges are in Ontario???
If so, from the Carleton Dentention Centre, he would have been shipped to Milhaven Institution within a week of being sentenced. He'll be there for about 2 months. Then he'll be shipped to whichever institution, based on his charges, he has been assessed for.
In Canada, depending on the charges, but in most cases, a first time federal offender serving 4-5 years, will go to camp, and is eligible for day parole at 1/6 of his sentence, which in this case is 8-10 months from the date he was sentenced.
As you mentioned he is Spanish, then is he legally in Canada??? He may have immigration issues that he will have to deal with??? So it would be good for you to get in touch with him to help him.
Also, do you know his full legal name, as that will be required to mail him a letter. Go to the Corrections Canada website, listed in the Canada forum section, or Google it, there are only 3 camps, and 4 meduim security prisons in Ontario. Mail a post card or letter to all 7, at least one of the items will reach him.
robbreid 11-15-2007, 03:17 AM I apologize, due to the different writing style, I hadn't realized your other posts.
Bank robbery, that makes if more serious. Corrections Canada will look at how the bank was robbed, gun, note???, to determine what prison to sent him.
I would assume arresting a bank robber would have made the news, you can either check the Toronto police website http://www.torontopolice.on.ca/newsreleases/ or call the local newspapers and talk to their crime reporter.
As you mentioned, why not just knock on his door and ask his parents, just tell them you are his friend. Or give his parents a neutral letter, saying hi?, and write me!, and ask them to mail it.
As you mentioned the charges are in Toronto, he'd have been most likely transferred from Ottawa, to Toronto, and most likey at the Don Jail. Once sentenced he'd go to Milhaven near Kingston for assesment and then transferred to whichever institution he is assessed for. If there was a gun involved, he'll most likely go to a meduim institution, only 5 in Ontario.
In order of where he most likely went, Joyceville, Bath, Fenbrook, Warkworth, Collins Bay.
