Hi,
I am looking for info on Eastern Corr Facility in Ulster County but not the maximum facility. My man told me he was moved to eastern but the annex building which is a medium facility. Now I am really confused as to why he was moved from Livingston four weeks prior to completing A.S.A.T and One month away from taking the G.E.D and four months away from his Merit Date. Why was he moved to Eastern to be put into a nine-month program? Are they screwing around with his merit board? He was doing so good in the programs in Livingston and received high grades in School and the teacher told him he was ready for the G.E.D. His time in Livingston gave him hope for our future. He was constantly telling me over the phone in letters how much of a better man he has become and how he wants so much to be a good husband and father to our new born and he was going to try hard in A.S.A.T and in school and he had a good chance of getting paroled. For the first time in his life he would have a high school degree. It meant so much to him. Every time I talked to him he was so cheerful and positive. He had to convince me to keep it together and stay strong. He was on his best behavior never once received a ticket for bad behavior. So why move him?? This makes no sense to me???? He was transferred just yesterday to eastern and he has been asking around in regards to what he should expect in eastern and if anyone else in the past has been taken out of programs prior to completing them and what were their chances of parole and allot of the feedback is really bad. He called me up yesterday to let me know that according to what he heard that he would not get his certificate of completion for A.S.A.T. The five months he put into that program was now a waste of time and now that he lost his chance for completing a program, which is a requirement for his merit, they (fellow inmates) have told them that he will have a hell of a chance getting parole. I told him that he has to find a way to take the G.E.D, which would be considered as his requirement for his merit. He either has to complete A.S.A.T or get his G.E.D. He was working toward completing both. I told him forget about A.S.A.T concentrate more on finding out how to take the G.E.D. Scream if you have to, send letters to your counselor. I told him to do something don’t allow your fate in their hands. But his hope for the possibility of seeing his daughter before her first birthday is killing him. His once positive spirit has been crushed. The system has stripped him away of any hope, self-dignity and any self-improvement. He feels as though all his hard work for improving himself is worthless now. He really sounded like he just wanted to give up on himself and the system. I am dying inside. Why pull someone down when they have been trying so hard to change, to make a positive difference in their lives. I thought that’s what jail time was supposed to do help rehabilitate a person but they are just destroying him. You wonder why people are repeat offenders; the system does nothing to help them.
