This is out the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. Dated Monday July 29,2002.
Megan's Law computers offer names and pictures and the Zip Codes in which they live. Board of Supervisors is expected to vote Tuesday on whether to create a Locator map.
A map that would show how many registered SO's live in the county could soon be posted on the Los Angeles County Web site. County Supervisor Michael Antonovuch is asking the Sheriff's Dept. to develpo such a map, one that would be accessible any time of the day via the internet and include information now only found by going into sheriff's stations and loggin on the Megan's Law computers.

Basically what they are saying is that not many people go into the sheriff's stations and access this computer. So by putting this info on the internet people can put in thier zip code and find out how many serious and high risk offenders are in their neighbor hood. The only problem I see is that it is only geared towards the child sex offenders and no one else. It will be mimicing the San Diego County Web site that they implementing after Danielle Van Dam. I am worried about this only because what will be next if people don't access this web site will they go full blown internet state wide access including pictures like some other states. Let me know your thoughts and views on this.
