Hi,
Does anyone know how often an ex-prisoner can get food stamps? Is it a one off thing or ongoing if they have no employment or money? Any info greatly appreciated, thanks.

if no job and prove someone is paying their bills for them and no kids and by themselves; they only get $155 a month for 3 mos and that is it here in Oklahoma.

No, inmates cannot get food stamps while incarcerated. Also, some states restrict food stamps if someone has a drug related charge.

I know that here in WV if they have any drug related charges (and soon to be changed to arrests instead of just charges) they can't get food stamps. Which I believe is not fair really. Not that they should get them but there is a whole gambit of crimes and drugs is the only no no.

The reason they stopped giving foodstamps to people that have drug convictions is because aparently some people bought drugs with them.. but since they all use the ebt card now I dont see why thats even an issue :/

Food stamp cards can be used by anyone who is given the pin number. I was never asked for identification when I used mine.

Welfare and food stamps or any public assistance is prohibited to convicted felons in my state.
