Hi everyone... Iam new to the PTO.
I quess I can say Iam in the same boat as all of you. This is honestly the first time that I have heard stories of people that are going through the same thing.. Its a strange comfort, but I am truly sympathetic.
Its been three years almost four since my husband has been deported. Me and our 2 children have been living outside the country (in Tonga), hoping that we could get him back to the states in the process. I just recently moved back with the kids to the US, to get my oldest in school. I need to get him back, But the thing is i dont even know where to start. So many people have been telling us Its easy just file this and that.... but its been 3 years.
So here is the situation, my husband has lived in the states since he was 2yrs old, but born in Tonga, Iam a US citizen and also born in Tonga. He was locked up for almost 4yrs, before they decided to deport him, we werent married at the time but had our daughter, he has no family in Tonga, ( i mean no one) no job, and my entire family is here too... Iam a stuggling student living off of student loans, and grants with two children and no job, so i can definatly prove hardship. How do i go about showing that? Immigration lawyers cost money, and do i have a chance? Are there service for people with no money?

I hope anyone can help me with this...
Much Love
Malia

Hey Malia, I'm sorry I don't really have any answers for you, I do have a few friends who have been deported to Tonga and a few that will be deported back to the Islands as soon as they have served their sentences so I will ask and see what I can find out.

WELCOME to PTO!!!

There are many non-profit immigration assistance places around the counrty. I am not sure what is in your area or if they can help you but I would contact your local social services agency and ask them if they could referr you somewhere.
