I love to bake and decorate. I am a Chef but I always wanted to go back to school to become a pastry chef. I am not to into fondont to much though. Even though it makes for a beautiful cake I really don't care much for the taste what about you?? I believe that fondont makes it to easy sometimes. Making a master piece from a pastry bag is a challange. Do you ever watch the Cake offs on the food channel. They have to come up with a cake idea in 24 hours and have 8 hours to make the cake from start to finish. I mean these are some neat cakes. They also do alot of sugar sculpting. Anyway keep it up!! There is a big call for a good pastry chef in most areas. Pay is great!! Well take care!!

I was a pastry chef for a few years..And absolutely hated it....And the salary pay over here, isn't enough to compensate for the long hours and hard work!Perhaps I should try over in the US??! :-)

I am a cake decorator. I mostly do it for friends and loved ones. Holidays, weddings, other special occasions. But now and then I do it for pay, too. It takes practice but it is really rewarding to get to be so creative with something people are going to love. Also, wedding cakes can be kind of expensive, so I've been able to do them as a gift and feel like I'm helping with the wedding.
Fondant is actually pretty nasty stuff if you buy it. But you can make various types and you can also flavor it. I make different kinds that people actually request because it's good. Sugary, but good.

I do cake decorating as a hobby. I took an adult education class in basic cake decorating about 20 years ago and have just added to my knowledge since then. My Mom used to tell me I should do it for a living but I told her "Then it wouldn't be FUN anymore"

I am making my fiancee's sister's wedding cake next month. I haven't done a cake for over a year, so it will be fun.

I do this too, wedding cakes are VERY expensive. This way I get to help with the wedding AND give my present at the same time! One they will never forget!
