On June 12, two boys met at a park in Overland Park to settle a drug deal gone bad, according to testimony Wednesday in Johnson County District Court.
Each brought a cheering section to the park adjacent to Indian Valley Elementary School near 116th and Knox streets.
Before the gathering broke up, someone had grabbed a baseball bat and smacked it over the head of 18-year-old Eden “John” Wong Jr. Wong was in critical condition for days.

Attorneys for Thomas White are asking the Missouri Supreme Court to stop Jasper County court proceedings that would try the 14-year-old Joplin youth as an adult for allegedly firing a weapon inside Memorial Middle School.

In the first case, if this young man has a juvenile record that includes violence, he probably should be tried as an adult, as is the case with most crimes committed by seventeen year old teenagers.

The young man in the second case is still a child and should be judged as a juvenile, why do we have a juvenile system if we're going to certify so many young people as adults?
