I'm new to the Fed System and my husband (not legally) just arrived in Terre Haute yesterday. He's been all over the place, started out in Florida at Coleman II, then to Coleman I, then to Atlanta USP then to OKC FTC and now in Terre Haute, all this has been in the last three months. So its been not so fun trying to keep up with him....
Anyway, its an 8 hour drive from here to there and as soon as they get his visit list straightened out, I'll be making the trip. His visit list and phone list got wiped out when he transferred to Atlanta so since he had to move around so much he just fixed his phone list not the visit list yet.
I'm glad to share lil stories with ya'll and enjoy reading all of yours...Zelda and Inkchic have been most helpful and informative....and its nice to know others that understand our circumstances.

welcome! you're welcome for the help...i have dealt with USP for a couple years now..and he calls me 2-3 times a day, so i am pretty aware of what goes on as far as lockdowns and policies..
8 hours! that stinks, i have a little over 5 myself..i feel bad for the ones who come in from like Iowa and further with small children...it's so frustrating dealing with the fed prison system

Yea he called me twice yesterday and the 2nd time he told me that they had been put on lockdown for a bit, like 3 hours, then were off again. He said its crazy in there and the tension is unreal.
But the craziest thing he said was that because they were on lockdown, they couldn't get store. And there wont be any next week for quarterly inventory. ALL his property got lost in shipping (well some of it found its way here to me) and he has NOTHING. I even made it a point between calls to go put my last $50 on his books so he could get something. So he's got to go til the 3rd without anything and because I put money on there he won't qualify as indigent so he'll be stuck. That is so messed up. And since he just got there he said they lock his unit down at 4pm and breakfast isn't til like 6am so he's gotta go 10 hours without eating anything! He can't go 20 mintues without eating! LOL
Anyway, I'm sure you'll be seeing more from me on here. I try not to ask too many stupid questions but I'm new to the whole fed system. SO far the only plus is the prepaid calls that can come to my cell phone. Everything else SUCKS!
Oh and the mail room is gonna have to hire someone just for my mail. I mailed off 3 envelopes with pictures, another with a letter from my son (he's 5 y/o), two big envelopes, one with jokes and stuff and the other with a letter I had been writing since the 1st-it ended up being 78 pages long! (I know I've got issues :p )
Have a great weekend!

don't worry about asking questions. we are all here for eachother, when one of us has a question someone else would hopefully have an answer
