Does anyone know anything about inmates being released about a month and a half early from their sentence and going straight to a halfway house in Indianapolis run by Volunteers Of America? My Dad is supposed to be getting out soon and going to this place as a retiree. From what I've learned the director told him that they take 25% of what they make there at the hw house to pay for their room and board, but that if he comes in as a retiree they calculate his 25% based on his social security income and if he pays the 25% upfront he would be allowed to go home after hsi initial processing. This all sounds a little suspicious to me and I wanted to know if anyone had any information about this. The only info I could find on the address given (611 N. Capital Street) was that it's a substance abuse rehab center also.
