View Full Version : visitation procedures for Caroline? hiphip72 09-11-2007, 01:58 PM My guy just got sent to Caroline...anybody know anything about it? Anywhoo, will he have to go through another medical clearance to have visitors, or is he allowed to have visitors right away? dwfighterva 09-11-2007, 03:35 PM I know someone who was sent there, but I never got a report back. ;) It is a Level 1 camp near Kings Dominion. I drove past it a couple times. Take Doswell exit 98 off 95 and go east past Kings Dominion. It is about a mile or two and will be on your left. No, he does not have to be cleared through medical, you should be able to go visit him this weekend. Call out there and see if they have any odd/even days. I am guessing they don't and you can probably go either or both days. Level 1 camps are 100 to 150 guys and are more relaxed on visits. Good luck!! Please report back so we can include the information in a prison guide. :D hiphip72 09-11-2007, 05:46 PM Will do...I can't wait to see him! I wish my friends were more supportive so that they can babysit my daughter without getting all up in the business! Musrat 10-11-2007, 11:43 AM Hi, There are not too strict, there are 2 shifts... one is better than the other. You are allowed one kiss and hug upon arriving and another upon exiting. On alternate weekend you sit side by side and than on the between weeknds you sit across from each other. You can hold hands at all times and the times you are seated side by side, you 2 can put your arms around each other. Let me know if you need any more information. hiphip72 10-13-2007, 02:15 PM Thanks for the info. I will be going there next Sunday. I am so excited! I didn't understand what you meant by in between weekends and alternate weekends. I'm a little slow...lol:p . The weekend of the 20th will we be across or next to each other? hiphip72 10-27-2007, 04:27 PM So, last weekend was when I finally had the chance to go visit with my baby at Caroline. I hadn't seen him since July and I was just so excited just to touch him! Well, I get in there and this damn guard that looked like Otis from Martin and some other knucklehead guard gonna tell me I can't visit because he has had another visitor that day. I pleaded with them, telling them I came from NC, they didn't care. At first I was pissed off at my guy because we had this day planned out, but then I came to my senses and realized that it may have been out of his control. So anywayz, Otis gonna tell me I need to call him and lay him out...I'm like...ah hello.....he is in prison I can't call him! Then he was like well when he calls you, lay him out. I was like whatever, and then I asked him if he could at least give him the message that I came and to call me. He TOLD me he would do it, but do you think he did? He called me that night talkin bout when they told him he had a visitor he thought it was me, but it turned out to be his homeboy. He asked them that since they didn't tell him who the visitor was, can he still have the visit with the person he expected? Of course they said no. Now we have to wait till Dec. to see each other. I swear this time, I'm gonna be there at 9am sharp! dwfighterva 10-27-2007, 06:02 PM Oh no!! I was hoping for good news from you!! Most places allow them to reject a person. Example, he knows you are coming at 12:00 and they tell him a visitor is here at 9:00. If he turns them down (since he knows it isn't you and he is waiting FOR YOU) then it won't count and when you get there, he comes out. I hope he chewed out his buddy for ruining your visit. He needs to tell everyone when your day is and they don't even think about coming then. And yeah, get there when they open so anyone else comes, they talk to Otis. ;) Daveswife 10-29-2007, 01:09 PM Never dealt with this prison personally, but I know they always told hubby (or the co on the floor/unit) who his vistor was when they called him down. My suggestion for him is to ask the co who it is when they tell him to get ready. That way he knows if he should go. hiphip72 11-17-2007, 11:39 AM He said they don't tell him. Musrat 01-08-2008, 10:31 AM Hi, I'm really dorry to hear about your experience. I go every weekend and they are supposed to verify his visit meaning he has the right to ask who is there to see him and if he doesn't accept then it does not count as a visit. Anyhow, did you make it down in December? If so I'd love to hear about it. |
