View Full Version : New USP mailing address
inkedchick 09-09-2007, 09:39 PM I just got a letter yesterday with the address of
USP
PO Box 33
Terre Haute, IN 47808
I was told in my letter that they will no longer accept mail addressed to the PO Box 12015 address after Sept 11th
Just thought i'd let you guys know
The envelope that he sent it from no longer has those three addresses listed on it like they used to have
nursema 09-10-2007, 05:35 AM Thanks for the info. I didn't know that and I just sent 2 out yesterday. I guess I will get them back. Glad you let me know.
inkedchick 09-10-2007, 09:52 PM One thing that really bothers me about this address change is that it was one of the addresses among the 3 that they had on their envelopes. So what i am assuming they are doing is centralizing the initial mail receiving and then disbursing it among the 3 prisons. This concerns me that htey could either get lost along the way or that they will take their sweet time to get the mail between the prisons.

one thing i wonder is if they are going to look at the post mark of the 11th or if they are going to say after the 11th that nothing is accepted period. I guess we will see. I sent today's letter to the PO Box 33 address
buffett1997 09-11-2007, 03:09 PM On all of the letters we've been getting, they go through them before sending them out and use a marker to mark out the other two addresses, so the only one showing is the PO Box 33 one.
starlitemoon11 09-11-2007, 05:43 PM I was just skipping around to try and find something about the recent lockdown, and I saw this thread! I am so glad! My man has not been getting my mail, and I thought something might be wrong. This is probably not it, but it is information worth knowing, just the same!
inkedchick 09-11-2007, 10:05 PM no, the mailing address wasn't the thing about the lockdown, they were on lockdown but came off this morning.
as for the marker thing, usually the guys do that themselves, mine does it all the time, he either scribbles it or takes a sharpie to it, he told me that the post office was getting confused so they were told to black out the other addresses...but yeah, so your person probably blocked out the ones other than the 33 one because he saw the memo

windygirl 09-17-2007, 04:37 AM I addressed it to FCI P.O. Box 33 and than i asked how is the new place more priveledges etc etc.....lol....
RedNeck73 09-20-2007, 10:31 AM Thank you for this. I almost mailed it to the wrong po box
joanneh 09-20-2007, 08:30 PM G'day
SO can someone clear this up. I address my letters to FCI PO Box 33, instead of USP PO Box 121015.....do you think they will still get through??

well if he's not in FCI then do it as USP PO Box 33. they got rid of 12015 altogether. my letters from him don't have 3 addresses anymore, they only have "United States Penitentiary PO BOX 33 Terre Haute, IN 47808" so i wouldn't put FCI unless he actually is at that unit.
inkedchick 09-20-2007, 10:12 PM oh just wanted to say, the prison is being strict on this too, he told me that on Sept 12th he was the only one in his unit to get mail because all the other mail was denied. So it looks like they are being really strict on it.
