My 19 year old son passed away this time last year. My older son had only been in prison 5 weeks when his little brother passed. His brother was his best friend. Even though I am hurting, I hurt more for my older son. He couldn't come home for the funeral since he had only been in the system a few weeks. The warder was new and didn't feel my son had time to prove himself. No, my loved one didn't die while in prison, but I am sure part of his soul did.

Today is a difficult day for me. I miss both my boys terribly. My faith in God is the only thing that has pulled me through.

yes! Hold on tight and give God thanksgiving that you still have your other son and that even though this hurts he is home. I will ask God to give you strength as well as your son and for you to have peace that hes in a better place. Our helper is here never forget that!

I will definitely include you and your sons in my prayers tonight. I have lost a son also and know how you feel. My sons death date is coming up next month (1 year). One day at a time is the only way I get thru. Reading the bible helps and I find that my faith and being around other christians who understand and the folks here is the best medicine. Write your son as much as possible and talk about the positive unless he wants to talk about his brother. Some want to and some don't. Tell him what you are doing like putting flowers at his grave for the two of you etc. Including him in your plans will help him get thru this.

I did this for my son. He was kind of ambivilant at first and said you just take care of it but I told him he was a big part of his brothers life and deserved to help in the decisions, when it came down to making the decisions for our sons stone he spoke out and it ended up being the most beautiful tribute to our son and it was so Jason because of the whole family's imput.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I am equally sorry your older boy could not make it to his brother's funeral. I find it disheartening the warden did not make accomdations to have your boy escorted to the funeral of an immediate family member. Too be honest this is the first time I have heard of it this happening....My prayers go out to you and your family.
