well i finally heard from jimmy today. figures. all you have to do is go on line and whine about it and wham, there is a letter in the mailbox. it was a big fat one too, because now that he's been there in holdover for over 30 days they gave him 5 stamped envelopes and he crammed 7 letters to me in it 3 to his family, and several other miscellaneous ones. anyway he told me that he had woken up one morning to find he had conjunctivitis (pink-eye) so he had to wear a patch and get eye drops administered by who ever in the infirmary. any way after a few days of eyedrops his eyes were hurting really bad and he was getting bad headaches. when he mentioned it the medication was checked and guess what? it wasn't eyedrops they were giving him, it was eardrops! no wonder he felt worse! he's quite upset about it. i can understand, but somehow i can see a little humour in it. it's a little funny in a way. of course i really hope no real damage was done. i doubt it, because it was probably just another form of liquid antibiotic, and it really isn't fair because they take your choice away. if you were giving yourself drops at home you'd have the choice to read the label. there you don't have that option you just have to hope they do the right thing. anyway he's filing a grievance, but i doubt he'll have anylong term damage, so probably nothing will come of it. oh well. just glad i got to hear from him, and know he is alive and well.

LOL, sorry I didn't mean to laugh but how can the infirmary be so irresponsible. Eardrops for his eye! That had to been painful for him. He should sue. :-)
Let us know what happens.

ear drops - eye drops! Well, I have probably done that and didn't realize it! I just can't believe they admitted to doing it!

And think of how many other meds they've messed up. They're going to kill someone one day, but they'll cover it up and we'll never hear about it. I hope he's ok now.

well i hope there's no permanent damage either. some one told me that ear drops sometimes contain cortisone which would not be good for the eyes. but i doubt that unless he can prove actual damage he won't get anywhere with a law suit, he will be s o l. don't think they let you sue for pain and suffering. like i said when you take away someones right to read the label on the medication, the least you could do is have someone who is able to READ administer them! dave is right it's scary to think of what else they screw up and don't admit to either.
