View Full Version : my friend-passed in prison
happy gurl 08-19-2007, 11:03 AM i had a dear and loyal friend pass on the inside. he was down to three months after a five year stent. he had been complaining all morning long of not feeling right. however they too him on work crew anyway up into the mountains...a good 2 hour drive to any emergency facility or doctor for that matter. i guess the pain was finally too much and he asked to lie down the gaurds allowed him five minutes in the van to lie down, when the five minutes was up a gaurd came to get him and he was passed. it is unclear as to whether any cpr or life saving steps were taking right away. they did contact an ambulance which met them half way. but by then his heart had completly given out.

chintath 08-24-2007, 12:56 PM That's terrible. I think they are so short-staffed that gaurds are not always well-trained, especially when it comes to health.
I lost my pal and his death is under investigation. One inmate said he was drinking and his fear became too much. I received a letter from him that day and he spoke about those who were threatening him. Now five men were taken to the hole. I am tempted to write the inmate who informed me of his death but at this point I don't trust anyone.
Tigger Mom 08-25-2007, 12:47 PM Happy Girl,
You know sometimes I think God takes our loved ones out of the situations they are in so they don't have to suffer any more. I believe your friend is now with God and is feeling great! I am so sorry for your loss. We the ones left behind are the ones who suffer the most and remember the most. We just have remember the good times and keep them in our hearts.

chintath 08-25-2007, 12:58 PM Thanks,
He is Native American and I hope he is with his ancestors. I had hoped to meet him one day--the letter he sent me on the day of his death spoke of meeting me.
His wife tole me he was so institutionalized and she always knew he would die in prison. I am glad that he won't have to suffer any more. Just wish he had had the time to make peace with everyone first and have some good times.
Now he is at peace and maybe this has made an impact upon his sons who are following his same path. Maybe he can guide them in death more than he could in life.
Thanks for your words of comfort, Tigger Mom

HwnPrincess 05-06-2008, 04:04 PM Hi there,
I lived in San Diego since 1990 and curious what prison your friend passed in, and what year? My condolences to you and may your spirits meet one day. I work in the Cemetery/Mortuary business and my heart goes out to all the ones who has lost a love one. Everyday we help people who either suddenly or expected a love one to pass. We see babies, elderly, all walks of life, different religions.
timsbaby41 05-08-2008, 08:33 AM I am so sorry for your loss.Have you been given any answers yet ? How can they justify not getting him medical help from the beginning ? I know that medical care in prison is a joke but it just seems like they could have done something

Lovely_lady_lee 11-25-2008, 12:22 PM I know your pain my friend passed away last wed evening I just talked to him wed morning he was in good spirits The prison called me Friday afternoon to inform me of his death and if I knew who his next of kin was .. I was shocked they called me because even though I have been corresponding with Ben the last four months and just got approved to see him I've never met him in person I've been in mourning and crying everyday but I do have some closure knowing he's finally free truly free and never Going back . I found out Thursday from his step dad, he was very sick had diabetes so I'm sure his passing was diabetes related . And I am singing at his funeral

chintath 11-25-2008, 10:46 PM So sorry you didn't get to meet Ben on the outside. Maybe in the next life, if that is part of your belief.
My thoughts are with you. Take care.
