Not only do I have a loved on in jail I myself did some prison time.
I was convicted in Texas 5 yrs ago for possesion. I was given permission to do probation in NYC under these rules: 10 yrs. probation, 500 hours of community service and $5,000 fine plus 6 months county time. I made it home fo Mothers Day "99" It took me 6 months to get a job within those 6 months i went threw a very bad state of depression. Once I got back to work everything fell back into place and I was feeling great. At some point in time I said to hell with Texas I am not going to pay them anymore and sure enough I was picked up at my job by the NYC Warrant Squad. (some way to spend Valentines Day) I was housed in Rikers for 21 days waiting for Texas to pick me up. I was extradited back and given 2 yrs TDC (Texas Dept. Of Corrections) I was devasted and so was my whole family. I knew that stressing was going to get me no where so I handled my time like a trooper and always reminded myself "THEY CAN'T HOLD ME FOREVER!!!" Texas Prisons are HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was released Dec. 20th 2002 and was given 9 months on parole. I was discharged from Parole last month I have a great job, I just moved to my own place in the BX and God has blessed me with a child.

No matter what happens in your life always stay focused!!!!!!!

Thank you for sharing and welcome to PTO. My guy has been in (NY facility) a long time, he has marketable skills but we both worry about his finding work when he gets out here. So, naturally, I loved your story!

Just a question....I know that nobody likes or wants prison and correct me if I understood your post wrong. You were given 10 years probation and after you messed up you served 2 years prison and 9 months parole. Do you find it a blessing in some ways to have had to serve that time and only get the 9 months and then put them behind you. Or would you have rather answered to someone for 10 years? Im interested in you views now that it's all behind you.

Yes I was given 10 yrs probation (that's TX for you) and then was only given 2 yrs prison time. In all honesty I saw it as a true blessing from God!!!!! Knowing that it was such a blessing from God it made my time go by that much easier.
