My brother arrived at Easterling today. He is the oldest of 3 siblings. Our mother died 4 years ago at the age of 43 and things went down hill from there. We really dont have any other family support. My brother is so sweet and kind, he has a heart of gold. He just couldnt survive with the hand that was dealt, so he turned to drugs to escape the pain. I know God knows best, but I dont understand how much he thinks that we can handle. My heart is breaking.

BUT A THREE-CORD STRAND WITH ME IN THE MIDDLE IS NOT EASILY BROKEN. NOT EVEN DURING EARTH SHAKING LIFE AND DEATH TRIALS. THERE ARE 3 OF US BUT WE ARE ONE. WE WILL KEEP LOVING AND FORGIVING THROUGHOUT ETERNITY.

Bitter baby sis....first off...Welcome to PTO. You'll find SO MUCH support here. Anything & everything you wonder about...think about...or just want to share about....you'll find here. As you see....you're not alone. We all feel your pain & will help you through this. I'm so sorry for the loss of your mother...& now, having to go through this with your brother. I've often said that being incarcerated is similar to death in many ways...sometimes I find it harder because our loved ones ARE alive...we just can't be with them...especially when we feel they need us the most. We all have to look for & focus on the positive side of things. I hate my loved one is incarcerated....but it very well may have saved his life. We can be so self destructive as humans. At least you know where your brother is...& hopefully, he'll be able to get in some classes that will help him to learn to deal with his pain....rather than self medicate. Most of the men & women in prison ARE good people...they've just made mistakes. Have faith & stay strong.

I am so sorry for your pain. No life is not always fair. How long does your brother have? You have a lot of support here and some wonderful people to help you through this. Welcome to PTO. Take it one day at a time and take care of yourself as your brother will need all the family support he can get.

bitter baby sis....welcome to pto, you will find lots of support here...I am sorry about the loss of your mother. Hopefully your brother can get into some classes to help him deal with with his problems. When my hubby went to prison years ago someone told me this saying and I have it on a sticky note above my desk at work and look at it daily....Life never hands us more than we can handle and the rewards are always better than the hardship we had to go thru to get there. We are always here if you need us....

I know 2 years seems like a long time, but he should be out in less time than that. What is his EOS date? Or, is the two years the length of time he will have to serve?

HI, there Bitter Sis!
First of all, let me say - WE UNDERSTAND!! My husband was at Easterling a few months ago but is now home! He came home on July 23rd and we got married on August 9th.
Anyway, I know how you feel about not knowing how much you can take - it is a hard situation. I say, "Keep praying, stand by your brother, and support him emotionally all that you can!" He needs understanding and support during this time.....
Another thing - you are in Walker County? That is not far from me....I am actually in Jefferson County but not far from there....I am not far off of Hwy 269 that goes straight to Jasper.
If you need to talk - let me know!
Hang in there!

Hi bitter Baby Sis i know things aren't like you want them to be but always remember weeping endureth for a night but joy cometh in the morning. Also remember God knows best and he also has a plan for us all even though we dont know the plan. You may cry tears of sadness now but eventually them tears we'll be tears of joy and much happiness. At least you want loose your brother to a drug over dose or anything like that and at least you know where he is. No matter what may come you guys way just stay strong and united as one. Honestly I know there's nothing like loosin a mother because noone can love you like a mother can but she's you guys guardian Angel and when all this is over and done you'll be thankful you guys went through it because you went through it together and going through ups and downs is what making yall bond so strong and so unbreakable. My favorite scripture is "I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strenghtens Me"; and you can do all things through Christ pray, belive, have faith, and trust God All things will work out for yall.
