Hello, Lady’s
My husband was transferred to Jamestown about a week and a half ago, I was finally able to locate him through the inmate locater today to find out were exactly he was at… “JAMESTOWN” it is!!! Anyways, my question to you ladies is… how long after they get there will they be able to make a phone call and I usually get a letter from him at least once a week and it’s going on 2 now that I haven’t even heard from him, is this normal??? Or will I be hearing from him soon??? Please… I would appreciate any experienced information that you might be able to give me. And also, I will most likely be traveling there to see him at least every other month. I am located in the San Fernando Valley, so if anyone is interested let me know… “No Psychos please:rolleyes: ” I usually like traveling alone or with my son… but hey it’s a long ride.

My husband was transferred to jamestown on July 31st and I called down there and spoke to a lady in the records dept 2 days later(Thursday) she told me that my husband was already in the system and that she didn't see why he couldn't get a visit. I took a chance and went there that same weekend and got in. From what I have heard from other women is that it can take a few weeks to visit. They are suppose to wait until they go through orientation,so either I got lucky or they are now moving things along. As fas as letters, I got one 2 days after he got there and my first phone call was that sunday after our saturday visit but, we got cut off after only a few minutes. I would call down there and see what's going on,what level is he? If he is in level 1 or 2, then I'm not sure. Mine is a level 3. Hope this helps..
Oh and you should also check to see if you have to re-apply for visiting, I had always thought that once approved, always approved but a few women said that they had to re-apply because their husbands were in the camp. I'm confused/lol.....I didn't have to because he is a level3. If you have any more questions PM me and I wiil help as much as I can,I'm new to Jamestowm also.

Well if you were approved before than you should have no problems.. Good Luck visiting it was a big culture shock to me. They only have one poor officer processing for everyone:eek: ...Maybe I will see you there. Right now we can only go on Saturdays because the General Population gets visits on Sundays. My husband said that it should change soon and then we could go both days..Take Care

Well thank you again... and since you go there often, can you please let me know when they change the visiting system, because since I do live 350 miles away, when I do go I would like to make it a weekend visit. Thanks I appreciate you very much.

My man has called me a psycho at times. But if you ever need a travel buddy let me know he was just sent to Jamestown last week. I got visitation forms today so they wil go out in mail today. So when i am approved i would like a traveling buddy especially because if not i would then be forced to travel with his mother and five hours in the same car would kill me.

Thanks
Veronica

Hey everyone im relatively new to this site, however i have been reading the posts as often as possible since i stumbled on to it. A close friend of mine has recently been incarcerated and he was sent to Jamestown, however i havent really been able to find out how life is in there, since its not one of the major california prisons. If anyone has any insight on how daily life is in there, i could sure use the help/peace of mind. Thanks

I have a question... I haven't been transferred... yet, but this is one of the places where my husband is "rumored" to go. How does the visiting procedures work? In HDSP we stood in line at the front door of the visiting building (starting @ 7am) at 8am they gave us numbers and when they did that they called all 830am appointments, when they were finished with the phone visit appointments they started calling numbers and it literally took 15 minutes or so if you were in the top 10 (in numbers) to be processed and you were in your loved ones arms no later than 9am. Do visits get cancelled (or terminated) often? How packed or busy does it get for level III's? Oh and last question (promise)... how often is their family visits? At HDSP we got them every 30 days or so. Can someone let me know? Thank you in advance.

Just a side note... the level 2 SNY are suppose to be going up to HDSP that's why they're (CDCR) doing so many transfers. The B-yard @ HDSP is suppose to go strictly SNY and PC. I hope this helps a little bit.

Family visits are suppose to be every 90 days but no one has gotten any yet on the level 3 yard.
As for visiting, they just started a new lottery system which means een if you are the first to arrive you could get number 50 and someone who comes 30 minutes after you could get number 10. They just started doing that so Im not sure how well it will work out. I get there later because I hate to be terminated and yes, terminations happen alot. First in, First out! I get there by 11:15am and get in by 11:45am and stay until the end which is 3:30pm. I think they start passing out numbers around 7:45 or 8am. You can call down there and they will tell you for sure. Oh and there is only one officer who does the processing so it can take awhile.

this is incredibly retarded. as if we don't have enough to worry about just getting there! i live 5 hours away. why would they even consider doing this? i think first come, first serve is proper. i could even understand someone's visits being terminited to make room for others ... if they were there hours earlier.

do you think getting there at 1115a works best?

I think 11am is good, any earlier and you might get terminated. My first time visiting I got to stay all day but the very next weekend I got the boot/lol... I just go later and stay the rest of the time.
