View Full Version : What's going on at Parchman?
Kharizzmatik 08-07-2007, 10:08 PM MY boyfriend told me about the inmate getting the gun, but I just saw that there were a bunch of stabbings resulting in a death. Is all of Parchman still on lockdown? I got a letter from my boyfriend over a week ago, he was at SMCI, he told me he was glad he wasn't in Parchman anymore (he spent the past 3 years in unit 32). I went on vacation and came back today to no letters, only to see on MDOC's site that last week he was transfered back to Parchman :( Luckily he's in 29 and not 32.... but still, back in parchman?!
Can he write yet, or are the recent issues affecting anything?
PS-it's his birthday too.... my poor baby!!
I-Care 08-08-2007, 10:40 AM I would think he can write.. Do you think he got an RVR is why they sent him back to MSP?? They seem to be moving them a lot lately... WHEWWWW at least not in Un. 32. Also his B'day.. Bless him!!
Mrs.Glamma 08-08-2007, 06:29 PM There is lots of movement all over the system due to the incidents at MSP. He may have been moved to make room for some people moved out of MSP.
Even on lockdown, they can write.
Take care.
Kharizzmatik 08-08-2007, 10:26 PM Yeah he got some RVRs a few months ago at SMCI and was stuck in "the hole".... he was supposed to spend at least 6 months there but caught a break like 2 weeks ago and was reclassified... he said he thought they were just going to put him back out in general population of SMCI, but I guess instead opted to ship him back to parchman. It's his own fault for getting into trouble, but i still feel for him :(
If they're on lockdown can they get canteen? I'm pretty sure he won't have any paper or stamps until he can get canteen....
I-Care 08-09-2007, 06:07 AM If the entire building is on "lock down" I think they get canteen. But if he has done something to put him in max then no canteen is my understanding. I could be worng.
granny2 08-22-2007, 07:13 PM I havent heard anything out of parchman since the gun and firing of a officer. I guess it must be quite right now.
Jonathan 08-23-2007, 09:57 AM I hope this means no news is good news.
I am concerend though because of all the heat problems, and am sure this is one of the major reasons we are hearing nothing. Everyone is to miserable to cause any problems.
I-Care 08-23-2007, 11:22 AM Yes, me too.. Jonathan I got a letter from a man in Unit 31 yesterday and he said they have AIR!! When it is working.. I did not know any Parchman unit had air.. You think he just meant fans??? He said AIR!!! He said he stays in where it is cool because they have air..
mojo70 08-23-2007, 12:09 PM Hi I-Care,
Saw on the inmate this moriing that my son got transferred to WCCF in Woodville Ms. I say "Hoo-ray" and as soon as I can go we will be on the way! I just wanted to say "Thanks for your help....The one I worked with is in Jackson Ms, and she is the director constituent services. She did everything she told me she would do. I am so very happy!!! mojo70
I-Care 08-24-2007, 06:13 AM "mojo" could you please post the info of the lady in Jackson. Or send it to me on a PM message. That would be good info to have for others. It would be good to post on this site so others who may need to see it can view it. Maybe go to the "'Private Prison" section and post about the move and who you contacted who helped you so much in case others need to know. This is really GREAT!! I know this is a long drive for you too but MUCH closer than before. Who knows "maybe" one day I can get that way and meet you after a visit. I LOVE the drive from my house to there. Such beautiful country to see. Right now things are a mess here but I think in the fall and winter things will slow down and get better. I can find out when the time is for your visit to be over and meet you at the 4-way stop about 2 miles from the prison. ONLY one way in and out of there so we would not have a hard time finding each other..
Take care and hope you get to travel to see him SOON.. You said "B" custody right?? Call and make sure of the rules presently. I know what they were a few years ago. You want to be sure that you bring in ALL the money they will let you ( so you can buy all he wants from the vending machines). It used to be 20 dollars in quarters that each one visiting could bring. Also was a limit of 4 visitors. I am not sure if you can wear in a watch or earrings there. I think you used to be able too but not at most other facilities. ONLY have your drivers license and car keys on you..
Take care...
Thanks for the update..
BLESSINGS to you & yours..
Magicalgirl 08-29-2007, 01:10 PM Another death at parchman last night, unit 32. My boyfriend is in unit 32, this just scares me so much. They say one guy forced his way out of his cell to kill the other guy. "Forced his way out"???? This is so crazy.
Tracy68 08-29-2007, 02:30 PM Do you have any more details please...I have a friend in Unit 32

ManixGirlsBabe 09-01-2007, 10:56 AM My man Shane Manix is in Unit 32 and there is no a/c, at least not for him. He is really suffering. Morale is low in that unit right now and they need all the love & support that they can get. I try to send him as much cheer as I can even though it's limited. I can't believe how strict the mailroom is: I had a letter sent back because I forgot to put my full first name on my return address-now how ridiculous is that? Let's do whatever we can to make our babies happy:)
liliuj 09-21-2007, 09:10 PM mojo......if you could, please pm me the name of the case worker who transferred your husband over. My husband will be going to rankin county in Nov. charged with burgerly of a dwelling. I was trying to see if I could contact one the case workers who does the transferring.
