Hello All, my mother in law talked to my husbands counselor today at DVI because my husband talked to his counselor a little over 4 weeks ago and he said she endorsed him to Jamestown and Susanville for FireCamp, so we weren't sure how much longer it would take for him to get picked up and if it was normal for it to take this long (this is new to us). Well the counselor said she did talk to my husband but she didn't endorse him, she recomended he go to either Jamestown or Susanville for Firecamp, she said he needs to talk to his CRS to get endorsed. My mother in law didn't want to ask too many questions, being that the counselor is not too friendly, so she didn't ask what or who is the CRS, so she asked me, but I didn't know so I thought I would ask all of you, since I get such WONDERFUL information on here! So if anyone can help us out it would be such a relief to us....:help:
CSR = Classification Service Representative. CSRs are the individuals that endorse inmates for transfer and placement.

Classification Staff Representative.....basically he ris probably at the level where he can be a level 1 or 2 but depending on behovior she is going to recommend her be placed as a lower level since he has staye dout of trouble or whatever it may be. His counselor cannot classify him so classification has to.

His counselor told him he had 19 points so that would make him a level 2 one ponit too many to be a level 1. This is the first time I have heard of this CSR person. I thought once he saw his counselor, that would be it, he would transfer right away.....

Thats why they are making hims ee the CST because he is one point away so they can make the decision to make him a level one.

Yeah but can't level 2's go to camp too? So I don't understand why this is delaying his proccess, and what's the point or benifiet of making him a level 1.
Counselors do not have the authority to transfer inmates. Counselors make recommendations to the CSR (or to a Classification committee to send the case to the CSR), who have the authority to endorse the inmates to specific institutions. CSR, who work for the Classification Services Unit in Sacramento, control the movement of inmates between institutions.
Each institution also has a C&PR (Classification and Parole Representative), that can act as a CSR to move inmates between different level yards at the institution they work at. So the C&PR at CCC can approve inmates to be moved from the level 3 yard at CCC to the level 2 yard at CCC. But the C&PR can not approve the inmate to be moved to a different prison, only a CSR can do that.
Inmates with 27 points or less that meet the criteria for camp can be endorsed as a level 1 for camp. The inmate is given an override from level 2 to level 1 to accommodate the camp placement.
