Can anyone tell me what unit the stabbing was at in Parchman on 7/25/07 at approx. 4:30 pm. I was talking to my son and the phone was cut off and it came on the news that 3 men have been stabbed. They are now in lockdown. Does anyone have an update? May God's hand protect our guys. thanks

I have not heard of this yet. I hate to hear it. They will likely be on lockdown for 1-2 weeks, and will have no phones, canteen, yard call, showers, etc.

All we can do for now is wait and see what the details are. If anyone has any info please post.

Unit 32 inmate stabbed to death
Second killing since May underscores tensions; area called "powder keg"
Authorities are investigating the second stabbing death in less than two months at Unit 32, the super-maximum security unit at Parchman that is locked in a federal lawsuit over prison conditions.
Donald Reed Jr., 26, was stabbed in the head, chest, thigh, shoulder, back and fingers while in an exercise pen Wednesday afternoon at the State Penitentiary at Parchman
"The preliminary investigation reveals that the inmates were not properly strip searched," MDOC Commissioner Christopher Epps said in the news release. "When staff tries to shortcut MDOC policies and procedures, this is what happens."
Also on Wednesday, Sunflower County Sheriff James Haywood said prison officials charged a medical practitioner working at Parchman with possession of a firearm on prison grounds. Haywood said the man was released on $25,000 bond.
