A very good friend of mine suddenly disappeared in 2005. A year later I found out that he had been in prison for a DUI. I got ahold of his girlfriend and she told me that he had gone through a stop sign and was at his house when the cop came knocking on the door. He went to Erie County till his court date. He was sentenced to 1-3 years. Supposedly because of his previous one just under 10 years before. This one did not involve an accident. He went into the prison system jan of 2006 and was transfered to Gowanda where he tutored other inmates and did every program possible. He was then accepted into the Drug and Alcohol Facility near Albany and successfully completed the program. My friend, prior to his conviction, was the principle bass player of the Buffalo Philharmonic. While at the Albany facility, he gave a couple of concerts for the entire population. He was told there was a possibility of work release upon completion of the program but he was transfered to Riverview, where he remains. I talked to his girlfriend last week and they told him he would get out October 22. Does anyone know if they can say this or not? I know that things can change, but he has done every program possible and successfully. He lives outside of Hamburg where there are no places to work. There are convience stores within walking distance, but they all sell alcohol. Isn't it a condition of parole that they find a job and stick with it? I really don't see many possiblities with finding work there with no transportation, because his girlfriend plays for the BPO also. So there is no one to transport him to and from work. I have recently moved to Arkansas where the majority of the state is dry. I was wondering the conditions of out-of-state- parole and anything anyone can tell me. As of right now, his career in NY is ruined because everyone knows about it. I know down here that its easier for an ex-con to find work. Right now there is no possibility of him going on the wagon because hes been clean for two years. But he is scared about whats going to happen when he gets out. Any information would be a great help. Thank you!:)
