What is it that someone wants to know about Morgantown? I am curious because I will be going there myself in two weeks for a 33 or so month stay. Hey Doublejp - I am sure that I will see you there - from what I have read - you will get there about one week before me. Good luck to you and God bless!

Do a search for ION scanner, it is a wand or a machine that a visitor to the prison must pass through or get waived down by one. It checks for narcotic odors or the presence of narcotics. The bad thing about it, it’s very sensitive. Several items that are not narcotics set it off. Like I said do a search and you will see.
P.S I do not think they have one there, probably just a metal detector. Tell you wife or girlfriend to watch the wire in her bra!
Later!

My husband was released from Morgantown this spring and when I went to visit him there there were no ion scanners. Upon visitors arrival they will need to fill out a form then return it to a tray on the desk. CO's will look it over and when visiting hours start they will start calling visitors names and they will take the paper with their id and go through the glass doors and hand it to another CO and then they will sign the guest book and the CO will call for inmate. I thoroughly enjoyed my visits with my husband there. The CO's were friendly and as long as you weren't being overly touching they were okay. Just do as your told my husband said and you will be fine and the time will go by as long as you keep yourself busy. Gook Luck

I was visiting there from 2001 until just 7 months ago and I never saw someone be scanned. They do have a sign in the waiting area advising you that they have the right to do it but I have never seen it done.
