Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Suthrndreamgirl 07-11-2007, 09:46 PM My guy was ordered to take the SAP program as well. That was the ONLY program they specifically required for him to do....so can anyone tell me WHY they place him in a facility that doesn't even offer it....and WON'T let him transfer to one that does??? Rehabilitation at it's finest, huh? Blueyez94 07-12-2007, 10:28 AM redkh, They do offer a substance abuse tratment program, he needs to get with his classification officer to get into the program, there may be a waiting list...If they don't off the SAP program he needs to see if he can get transferred to a facility that does offer it like Bullock or Ventress.... Redkh 07-12-2007, 11:48 AM Thank you all so much, my brother has a split sentence and has to serve 3 years. He was at Kilby but they just recently transferred him to Bibb. I do know that the sap program was court ordered by the judge, but he says he has been trying to get info on the Sap program but hasn't had much of a response. He has been incarcerated for a year now so his release date is set for April of 09'. Southerndrmgirl - I totally agree with you, it seemed very strange that they would transfer an inmate to a facility that doesn't offer the programs that are needed. Blueyez94 - are transfers difficult to achieve that you know of? or is it a drawn out process as well? Next time he calls I will tell him that he needs to talk to his classification officer and ask to be put on the list. Thanks for all your responses, he is a first time offender (23 yrs old) and we're trying to help him keep his head up the best we can. :) Blueyez94 07-12-2007, 01:59 PM Sometimes transfers are easy and sometimes it can be difficult and drawn out..Definatly tell him to start with his classification officer... proudmom 07-12-2007, 08:03 PM redkh, bibb's sap program is called "crimebill sap".he will have to sign up for it and there is a waiting list. my son is graduating from it tomorrow. it is a six month program and IS tough.goodluck! Suthrndreamgirl 07-13-2007, 12:09 AM My guy has been requesting every year for a transfer...specifically with the request for a facility offering the SAP program (being as it's "required" for him)....but no luck. He's been in almost 8 yrs. with no write up's, no trouble, nothing...so I don't understand what the problem is. He goes up for progress review this month. We'll see. proudmom 07-14-2007, 06:01 AM My guy has been requesting every year for a transfer...specifically with the request for a facility offering the SAP program (being as it's "required" for him)....but no luck.
