Form I-212 allows for a deported individual to ask to be allowed into the states again. Has anyone ever tried this....was it successful? My husband will probably be deported after he serves his time, but his counselor mentioned that he could try to apply for re-entry with this form.....

this form, from my memory, is used after the person has been out of the country for a period of time. Usually they will agree to an amount of time in the deportation order. Let's say 5 or 10 years. After that time has pasted they can apply to re-enter the country. I do not know anyone who was sucessful at this but someone I know has been out of the country for 5 years now and is trying to do this. I will keep you posted. He is doing it through the US embassy in his country. He just started this process and it may be a while but I will update you as I get info.

you would have to check the rules of that specific country. Do you have any specifics you are interested in?

Hi Iam also filing that form for my husband, I do believe you are suppossed to file after you have been out of the country for sometime. My husband was deported for 5-10 years, its been four. but i figured if i file it now, i would take at least a year for them to look at it.
good luck and let me know how it goes.
:)
