My newest pal is in Parchman, Unit 32 (but not death row), so I'm assuming it's a SHU? In any case I just have a couple of questions. Are they allowed to make weekly phone calls? And are they allowed visitation with people on their approved list? If so, is it behind glass and for how long? There may be an occasion when I get out that way in the future and would like to meet him. Any information you have would be very helpful to me. Thank you. :)

Inmates at 32 can make a phone call every other week for 30 minutes.

They are allowed to visit with those on their approved visitors list, and it would be behind glass. However the visit is only for 20 minutes. They MAY allow an hour for out of state visitors, but not sure on that.

I appreciate the info, but 20 minutes for a visit??? Doesn't it take longer than that to in-process? I've never heard of a 20 minute visit before. What is their justification for that time frame, do you know? Again, thanks for responding. :o

justification is that they are on lock down and being punished.

How sad. Well, I hope he's able to eventually get a real visit. This Parchman place has really been an eye opener. I thought Arizona prisons were bad....YIKES! Even the guys in the SHU out here get (2) hour behind the glass visitation. I feel so badly for my pal.

my fiance is in 32 and the visits aren't only 20 min. the last visit i had with him lasted almost 3 hrs. it is behind glass but the people there are really nice.

If it was 3 hours I hope you will let us all know how to get them!! When I was in 32 (PC) we only dreamed of those.

While I can't speak to the practice, in theory that phone call is supposed to last only 15 minutes.
