My son just got transferred to Terre Haute IN and we have a ton of questions. We have tried to call numerous times and no one is picking up the phone. If anyone could provide visiting days and hours it would be very helpful. He did call when he got there but we didn't talk long. What are the living conditions in FCI? Are there any drug and alcohol classes provided for the inmates? Is this complex intimidating when visiting? If we were approved at another FCI, will we have to go through being approved to visit again? So many questions. Any information would be appreciated.

My husband is at the camp so I don't know much about the FCI. I know the phones are shut off at 11 pm.

How often do you go down to visit? Your fellah is at the camp huh? What are there visiting days and times? Do you ever need someone to go with you to Indiana?

Just asking Q's new to the site.

My husband has been at FCI for almost a year now. The visiting hours are Friday - Sunday 8:30 am till 3 PM and on federal holidays. You have to be there before 2 PM or they won't let you in. If they are in the SHU the hours are from 11 AM till 2 PM and you have to get there before 1 PM. You can't wear open-toed shoes or sleeveless tops or any kind of sweatsuits or jogging suits. It can be rather intimidating at first but I've gotten use to it. They do have the drug ion scanner in use there so be careful of what you touch before you get there. If you have been approved in another federal prison it is nationwide so you shouldn't have to go through it again. The food sucks. There is no college anything there. Most of the lockdowns have been at the USP only. I have been going down there every weekend all year without any lockdown problems. If I forgot anything let me know. I been there so much its like second nature to me. I hope this helps.

Hi Butterfly
Thanks for your comments regarding FCI my man has been transfered there from USP. My Q. is do you think they still have the same counsellor as the one he had at the USP.

cheers

My husband was recently transferred to Terre Haute in the last couple of months and yes, the phone line is busy but if you can get through the counselor can anwer some of your questions you can pull up online the visiting hours and I can say this you can visit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and holidays. Please beware they drug test there. Not saying that in a bad way but I have stayed at some of the cheaper hotels and you cannot lay your clothes anywhere. Also, they tell you to shower before the visit otherwise if you are positive you lose your visit for forty-eight hours and when I drive over 5.5 hours or more that can be disappoiting any other information needed email me or if you plan a trip and need a driver let me know maybe we can arrange something.

When you call to try to get a hold of someone, just let the phone ring until it either shuts off or someone picks it up. So long as it's the correct hours, they will eventually pick it up. The first time I called to check I let it ring for about 10 minutes before someone picked it up.
