Hi, i haven't been on here in a while. My husband got into some trouble last year before we got married and now things are finally coming to a close on the whole deal. The prosecutor on the case is trying to be a real jerk in the whole thing, and the Siloam Springs cops are a total joke. We went to court a couple of weeks ago and when they got on the stand they told lies the whole time they were on the stand. They were coached by the prosecutor on what to say so that everything looked legit but in fact my husband was set up by possibly a snitch. The cops knew this guy by his first name and he had a prior record but he didn't get into any trouble over this whole mess. All he got were some fines. Now they are trying to put my husband away for 20 years with ten suspended. If he doesn't take this deal they will tack on some more charges and give him 20 to 40 years. He had an eight ball in his pocket and some scales in his car. The prosecutor won't even let him stay out long enough to celebrate his little girls first birthday that is in August. My husband has been clean for 17 months now and has done everything right and now they are going to send him back. He's so worried about me and our children that he can't think straight, our financial situation is bothering him the most since he is the main source of our income. I would like some advice if anyone knows of any financial help for spouses of inmates. Thanks for letting me vent, hope to hear from someone in a similar situation.

I am in the same situation but myhusband only has to go away for one year to state detention but I'm stuck with all the bills. We are both so depressed. Any help with finances would be great, hope someone replies, soon!

You may find some help here:

Family Matters Program serves prisoners during and after incarceration, their children and the children's caretakers. Basic services offered, beginning during incarceration and continuing upon release of the prisoner include: counseling (mental health as well as substance abuse), family crisis intervention, housing assistance, and employment services. Service may take the form of referrals to agencies that provide the actual assistance, e.g., employment training or job placement. A family literacy program and kinship support groups are offered. Family Matters provides direct services to children of incarcerated individuals. To be eligible for services a prisoner must be located in Central Arkansas and the caretaker of the prisoner's children must also agree to participate.

If your hubby hasnt been in trouble before if he takes the plea he can get boot camp which is only 3 months... thats not including the time it takes to get sent down to diagnostics and getting on the waiting list for boot camp. My husband done that but got kicked out of bootcamp and on his 10 year sentence done 18 months with good time

Yep 1O years on a drug charge could mean doing less then 2 years. That 18 months sounds about right. My brother had a 6 year sentence and served 9 months.
