I sent my son a couple of books just before he was moved from DVI to Solano. Well, one has been returned (guess they haven't gotten to the other, it's only been a month..LOL) and credited. I want to reorder it and send it to him at Solano. My question is, do I use the PO Box or the street address. Someone told me Amazon won't deliver to a PO Box. At DVI I put both on the same line, but Solano has two different zip codes. :confused:

Does anybody out there have any experience they would care to share? Thanks

I have sent books through Amazon and they have reached my son. They must be softcover and I think they can only get one order each quarter just like the packages, but I could be wrong about that.

I don't know about Solano, but I send books from Amazon all the time to another prison whose address is a PO Box--have never had any issues with it. You may want to wait and hear from someone at Solano, but I can confirm that you CAN send to a PO Box from Amazon.

Thanks JMK, wasn't sure and am already tired of how long it takes to fix "mistakes". Just want him to be able to get them. Sorry, frustrated, still waiting for them to get him his quarterly pck. It was ordered June 11. He went out to court, and I guess it went into storage. He got his cd player, but the cd's and batteries are in his quarterly,which he doesn't have yet.

Hang in there as best you can, Tricksie! If you want to be on the safe side about the books, you might want to call the prison and ask for the mail room. They're more helpful at some prisons than at others, but it might be worth a shot! I try to be just as sweet as pie when I call, and more often than not I have good luck getting information that way. You are supposed to use the P.O. box address when sending books and magazines to inmates at CSP-SOLANO. If Amazon uses UPS or FedEx to deliver it's packages, then they will not send to a P.O. box. In that case use the physical address. Don't worry your package will get through. :)
