My hubby got a sentence of 4-10 years concurrent. Now I talked to him on Sat and he told me that he will have to do the full 4 years. Could he get early release??? I thought if you were a certain level (don't know his level) you got so many days credit per month?? I know that he is in a minimum security state prison.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi NessaBellex....I think it's different in each state but in Pa where my husband is they have to do every day of the minimum before they can be considered for parole. They have a bill in the works now for early release from wha I've read here but I'm sure that'll take forever to get through.

In Nevada, the sentence already assumes you'll get "good time" credit, thus the "4" in 4 to 10 years. That's ONLY to be elegible for parole. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but in Nevada, very few get out on their first hearing. That State want's time out of people!! They assume you have good time, work or school credits, did whatever programming you needed to do. If you did, it means nothing, if you didn't, that's held against you! Again, it depends on the severity of the crime but they are NOT leinant in ANY way. You can be denied parole until the next hearing, or denied until the expiration of the sentence.
