i am sorry this is really late and as i am sure you know, they are off lockdown. they were on lockdown from May 29th thru June 11th, and then went right back on lockdown on June 14th and came off the 25th. The first lock down was due to a huge fight on the rec yard. The second lockdown was due to an inmate being killed.

yes, USP. and yep lock down is done. They have had short few hour lockdowns since, but they've been mainly off lockdown since the 25th. he calls me daily, and i just talked to him an hour and a half ago, so they are fine :)

he said it's been very tense around there lately. the first lockdown was 13 days and i think they probably had some pent up anger. and he has a feeling it won't let up. hopefully it will. But you never know.

Must be on lockdown once again. Seems to be a common thing around the USP in Terre Haute. Anyone know anything. I only know because a counselor called me yesterday and said to call before I drive out today. No word from my baby in about 3 days, so I guess we have to keep traveling down this bumpy ride. I am certain the desitination will be amazing. Let me know if anyone has heard any news. Seems there aren't many of us with loved ones at the USP.

Yep lockdown. they went down on friday. I got a call when it happened, 10 guards stormed into the unit and called for immediate lockdown, i could hear noise in the background and he kept saying sorry he couldn't talk but he had to hurry to his cell before he got in trouble.

Geez. I am so disappointed. I haven't even gotten a letter yet. I went to check my mail today, but nothing was there! Hopefully this one won't be for too long. I am doing better with it this time around, seems we are always on lockdown. My man doesn't share too much about what goes on around there. I don't think he wants me to worry too much. I do worry anyways. Well, thanks for the info.

what he explained to me during a recent visit was that the problem is the USP is relatively new within the past couple years. They didn't initially fill it to capacity. Within the past several months they have begun utilizing more of its space and shipping people in from other USPs, several from Florence and so on. And so what is happening, is you are getting guys who think they should have more respect and "power" than they should just because they think they had it at their other prison.

Therefore, you have tensions within groups of guys because guys walk in thinking they should have more respect, and some guys are like "who the __do you think you are?" ya know? And also because so many new guys are coming in, it gets more crowded and the racial tensions that were already there are getting worse because some guys don't know the respect that others already established.

Basically they are getting stir crazy and having power struggles and egos are getting too big and all that stuff, it's just been chaotic there. like stupid stuff, like the one in May was between a few races, but there was one lockdown in another month that was when there were fights within the same race, so it's not JUST race that's doing it.

A big thing that has been going on is a gang rivalry between the Mexican gangs and the White Supremacists and Black gangs. My father is in there and I know a couple of guards there too. They said that the white Supremacist gangs and the black gangs have 'banded' together against the Mexican gangs to stop them from runnig the prison. Recently lots and lots of gang fights, and a few deaths from it.

they came off lockdown this morning..there was a stabbing among black inmates...

i really wish that these guys could get a grip on their anger and stop all this chaos...i'm told it's been really crazy lately, everyone seems to be on edge

Hi guys my brother is lockdown in USP BIG SANDY IN KENTUCKY and he has a really good friend that was moved to terre haute he is so sweet his
name is george I have been writing him because my brother says he doesnt get much family support however he wrote me back the other day
and explained he is in the hole, he is sickly with sickle cell anemia.
When they are sick like that do they just keep them in the hole like that
or do they get medical attention I mean because sickle cell anemia is a
very deadly disease he said that they kept him doped up because the disease causes so much pain I pray he is alright I didnt write my brother
and tell him that because he would worry about him. :(

Please pray for him guys:o

i dont know about the hole status, there could be a lot of reasons, but i do know that USP terre haute is a max security medical center (which SHOULD mean he will get medical attention).

Sorry to hear about your friend. I pray he gets the medical attention he needs. I do not know much about the hole or how they treat people when they are ill. I will keep him lifted up in my prayers.

:) Guys thank you so much for your prayers and support you all are great.
I wanted to let you all know george is doing well, he did rec'v the medical
attention needed and they keep him under observation since sickel cell is
such a serious illness/disease. He said that he feels great some days are better than others.
Once he was better they took him back to the hole to finish his time.
I have been continuously writing him to keep him encouraged, he wanted me to thank
you all for praying for him.

He said the Lord had to hear them because he feels great.:D
LOVE YOU GUYS:thumbsup:

Are they on Lockdown again? I know they were a lil while yesterday but I haven't heard from him today and he should have called by now, SO he's either in the hole (already) OR they are on lockdown (again)....

Mandatory lockdown starting tomorrow at 4 pm. It is for like 2 or 3 days. something to do with training for the guards or something like that
