CREAMYALMONDZ 07-29-2002, 11:11 AM Nope sorry. jnv512 07-29-2002, 12:19 PM Thanks anyway, I actually went Saturday for the first time so I guess now I'm the resident expert if anyone has any questions. ny026 08-06-2003, 06:22 PM hi jnv.... my brother was in fishkill a turnaround facility for 5 months, and we couldn't understand why he was there that long. my mom went to visit him today and when she got there, they told her he had been moved to auburn. she called auburn to find out when visiting hours were, and they said he was only going to be there for a short time until they move him somewhere else, but they wouldnt say where. just in case he is there longer... do you mind telling me the rules, when visiting is and hours.. also, at fishkill you couldnt visit outside... can you at auburn? any information would be helpful. thanks a lot. rosepetal 08-07-2003, 08:32 PM I don't know about visiting hours/rules at Fishkill but I can tell you the visit hours for Auburn. Visits: 7 days a week, NO OUTSIDE VISITS Time: 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM Weekends alternate according to the alphabet. For example: Saturday, August 9th visits are allowed for last names beginning with M through Z. Sunday, August 10th, visits are allowed with last names beginning through A through L. Saturday, the 16th, visits are for names through A-L; Sunday the 17th, visits are for M-Z. They allow packages, food 2X a month, non-food items, any time. A list of package rules is available in the Lobby along with a list of Visiting Hours. Open toed shoes are allowed, no "see through" blouses, dresses, no "short shorts," and that sort of thing. Visit room is air-conditioned (thank God!) and there are very "greedy" vending machines, meaning prices are HIGH, so bring lots of $$ to feed them! I'm not sure what time the busses get there but it must be early cause there usually is a group of people waiting. Before you go inside the Lobby, there is a small tray where you put your visit slip. A CO will pick up the slips and call out the names in the order of arrival and will allow you to enter into the Lobby to be processed. If you are driving yourself, best time to get there on weekends is around 10:00 -10:30 AM because by then most of the crowds have been processed. If you're lucky, you might be assigned a table in "the well" which is much nicer and not a noisy. Hope this helps! Good luck! ny026 08-07-2003, 09:06 PM awww, thanks so much for giving me that info. i feel so bad now, because they broght him to auburn, but it was just for a night before they took him to gowanda. it sounds a lot like fishkill rules... except the food from the machines are cheap. i am very concerned because i read so many bad things about gowanda from the message boards. i know all prisons are horrible... but from what they are saying it frightens me. i just started counseling today, so i am excited about that. because even though these message boards are so wonderful with so many supportive poeple, a counselor can be more objective. thanks again for your advice. i wish i would have posted that he got transferred out of there so you didn't have to spend so much time writing. but if this helps, knowing that someone cares enough about a person enough to help them out as you did, really did do me good. |
