View Full Version : Phone calls tonight
JimmysBabyGirl 06-11-2007, 08:55 PM Is there anyone who's expecting a call tonight that has not got one?? The only nights he doesn't call is if something is wrong with the phones. I know I worry about things I shouldn't, but when the call doesn't come, I assume the worst. I'm sure there is probably a problem with the phones at his unit, but I just wondered if anyone else had missed a call tonight??

chatterbugg76 06-11-2007, 09:08 PM My hubby is in county and they go through Global*Tel Link and called me about 30 minutes ago and told me that the phone system keeps saying all networks are busy. just thought i would pass this info along.
cessnadriver 06-11-2007, 09:11 PM Thanks for the info chatter. We are always relieved when they don't call because of a phone problem rather than a health or disciplinary problem.
yep son hasn't called either and he calls every night. Now we know why. Thank you guys.
cessnadriver 06-11-2007, 10:10 PM This is what this community is all about, to help each other and we did exactly that this evening. PTO helped us to avoid unnecessary anxiety and concern for our loved ones.

I didn't get a call on Sunday night and also none yesterday. So, good to know it's a problem with the prison phones and not my line. I even called GTL and my line isn't blocked.
cessnadriver 06-12-2007, 08:14 AM I spoke with GTL just a moment ago. The building where their customer service department is located had a power outage. When I asked how that would have effected the phone calls from ADC Units she said that it shouldn't have and that she has been talking to people that were getting calls last night.
When I asked her to look at my phone number to see if anyone had tried to call me last night she said...ohhhh...hmmmm....it looks like SOMETHING was timing out from the facilities. Then she said..."OH GOD, a fire alarm, I have to go!"
There ya have it. Anyone want to partner with me and start a corrections Telecom?

chatterbugg76 06-12-2007, 09:59 AM Cessna---- Somebody needs to start a prison phone Telecom. The ones they have in Arkansas suck and aren't cheap. There are times when hubby calls and I can't even hear him or it has static on the line :mad:. When you pay $3.00 per call you want to be able to hear them. That is just like my hubby's pin number doesn't work but yet I called the leutenant and he said that it was working. He hasn't even been able to order the commissary either. I have $35.00 sitting on his books and he is not able to use it. :mad:
kim48 06-12-2007, 03:29 PM I continue not to be able to get a call from my boyfriend. He's in Pine Bluff. Do you think there is an ongoing problem with their phones? I wonder if it would do any good for me to call GTL.
cessnadriver 06-12-2007, 03:54 PM I got a call at 11:30 today. Yes, you can call GTL and they can tell you if he has tried to call you today. And if he HAS tried call they can tell you why it failed.

ittybittykitty 06-12-2007, 04:15 PM I just wanted to add how I think it is great everyone could find relief on here ....like Cessna said that is what PTO is all about being here for each other ...on good days and bad ones alike:) I know waiting for the calls are always tough...and there have been times when I was GREEN at this that I panicked at everything until I learned he has NO control over most of his life.That there is usually a logical reason WHY....but waiting to find that out can be a b$#&@ !!!! But I just wanted to say ....WAY TO WORK TOGETHER PTO FAMILY !!!!!!
Yes we were sitting wondering why he hadn't called last night and I said wait I will see if I can find out and came to our forum and there it was! Yes it does help to know we are all in this together and we can pass info along. When he called this morning at 7:30 a.m., he found out we weren't worried cause we knew what was wrong.
JimmysBabyGirl 06-12-2007, 06:23 PM My hubby called at 6:30 this morning and as soon as the call connected I said, "Glad to know the phones are working again." He said, "How did you know the phones were down??" I said, "I've got GREAT connections!!!" He was relieved to know that I wasn't up worrying all night. He said to tell everyone thanks from him too!!!
kim48 06-13-2007, 05:53 AM Hi, I still haven't gotten a call since Sunday. If he can't call this morning I will call GTL and ask some questions. I know he's been trying to call. It's nice to come here and see that others are going through this too, and we can help each other out. Thanks!
kim48 06-13-2007, 12:53 PM I did call GTL this morning. Today they said my line was blocked, and unblocked it. ?? Then she said they had blocked a bunch of numbers accidentally due to a glitch in their outdated computer program. I still haven't gotten a call. So, I feel that the employees don't really know what's going on either. So, now I wait and see what happens.
cessnadriver 06-13-2007, 01:58 PM Hi Kim -- You are much more patient than I. I would call right back and ask the next customer service rep you get to check your account for any issues. They can also tell you if he has been trying to call.
I really like that feature because if attempted calls have been made then it is easier for the CS Rep to understand the importance of correcting the issue. And if no attempts have been made then it feels good to know that our loved ones are not stressing over why we don't want to talk with them!

kim48 06-14-2007, 07:20 AM She did tell me he hadn't tried to call since Sunday. But the good news is-he did finally get to call yesterday afternoon! So, the problem is solved for now!!
