Are there any companies that offer a lower rate for collect calls? I was told if you live in AL the less expensive is what I have. I do not know what company the calls come from. The cost is $2.55 for the first minute and .30 for each additional minute. Is this a good rate or does anyone know of anything better?
Thanks

Correctional Billing Services (formaly known as T-netix/Qwest) is the phone company the state contracted with for all ADOC facilities.

I have contacted several of those companies like PCO and the quotes I got were more than I am paying now.

So, I could use that evercom and have the calls sent to my cell phone!?!? Can he also continue using the phone service through the prison to call me at home...or does it have to be one or the other?!?!
Also, how expensive is it to use the evercom service with a cell?!?!? I know when he was in county the prepaid service they used was okay. You could put $25 or $50 at a time. There was connection fee everytime you added money...it averaged out to be about 20% right off the top. So, if I added $25 they would take $4.75 right off the top for the connection fee. But, the calls weren't that much...I still got about calls out of what was left.

if the prison system is still usuing cbs/evercom/tnetix then you should be able to get calls to your cell and home phone, as long as he has those numbers on his phone list, but the calls to the cell have to be in a prepeid account and the minimum you can put in the account is $50 with a $8 service charge...

That explains so much to me. I would put $50 on my phone and we would talk for a day and i would have to put 50 more on there. I tried to be smart and put 60 on there to be able to have more time to talk but still we would go through those minutes like water.

I'll have to be sure to tell him to add my cell # to his list!! Would it cost the same calling the cell vs. calling home?? I mean, I know it's prepaid so it deducts it right then...but, I guess my question is...appx how many calls do you get with that 50 bucks??

at around $7 a call with $50 you would get about 7 calls...
