Scott Johnson 10-12-2005, 08:48 PM Does anyone have any info about Coffee State Prison in Georgia? My brother recently transferred there. Hi, My name is Scott, I used to work at Coffee. First, it is not a state prison, it's a private enterprise prison ( privately owned ). It's a medium security prison, which means it doesn't have a lot of the more hardened type prisoners. However, there are a lot of mental health inmates. Not really serious mental health, not the kind you would envision like you see in the movies. They mostly do ok as long as they take their medication. I won't mislead you into thinking it's a safer prison though. There are more uses of force there than in many state prisons. I would rather talk with you more privately than on a public forum type site. If you have more questions, you can e-mail me at (personal e-mail address removed per PTO policy; please Private Message this member)That is my private e-mail address so please don't give it out. I am a security officer at a state prison now, and I would be glad to answer your questions if you have more. Thank You, and don't over worry yourself. john'smom 10-13-2005, 09:22 PM My son is in Coffee Correctional Facility. I agree with Scott Johnson, overall it is a good prison. It's air conditioned. Very limited on programs offered to the inmates. Most of the ones with mental problems are in building together. PM and I will answer any questions you have. ~BabyG~ 10-17-2005, 01:12 PM My fiance is also there. I have never been to visit so I don't know how that is. I do know that he hates it there. He said he is in a dorm full of older guys but not that they are bad, it's just that he is more active than they are. He likes to keep himself busy playing cards, etc. Other than that I am not to familiar with the place. I would love to hear more about the place though. |
