View Full Version : Scared for my son in Parchman
granny2 06-06-2007, 11:42 PM Could anyone calm me with info about class c inmates unit 29 parchman.
He only has 4 years for uttering forgery. Is this where everyone goes at first.
knotforever 06-07-2007, 06:34 AM granny, this unit is where a lot of guys get sent first. I won't try and con you. It is not an easy unit, but then nor is any of Parchman. In time he will probably get moved out to another unit, if not another prison. How old is your son?
chickletone 06-07-2007, 10:36 AM Granny2~ what knotforever said is true, for more info you can go to the Mississippi forum. There we have members who have served time in Parchman, and alot of others who's loved ones were there before being transfered out. If I can help in anyway jus pm me! And welcome!

granny2 06-23-2007, 09:55 PM Thanks...just Would Do Better If I New He Was Safe. An He Maybe Safer Than On The Street. He Is A Nice Person Just Has To Pay His Debt Like Everyone Else. Not A Fighter Likes Peace And Quite Most Of The Time.
Mrs.Glamma 06-24-2007, 10:09 PM Granny,
We know your worry well. My loved one is not a fighter either, has a real problem with the arguing and fighting around him but stays out of it. Your son will be fine. He'll learn to keep to himself until he trusts people. My loved on was in 29 briefly as well
liliuj 09-21-2007, 08:37 PM according to people my husband and i talk to, most likely when my husband goes in november parchman is where he will be going....
scared b/c he will be doing 8 years
mrsshaw 01-11-2008, 08:10 AM Have you ever got to visit him yet? My fiancee is in 25, that's the pre-release unit. I go every sunday to visit. When did your son get incarcerated? Uttering forgery isn't a violent crime so he should get to serve 25% of his sentence if it's his first offence. You said he got 4 years? If he gets to be a trustee then his time will shorten greatly. They get 30 for 30 as a trustee. And if he gets to work and/or go to school he'll get M.E.T. time, which is another 10 days a month off of his sentence.
trailrider731 01-13-2008, 03:54 PM hay Granny, My son 22yrs old was in 29 (C custody) for a couple months, now in Unit 30 on B custody. Now he actually says 'if it weren't for the no contact visits he would rather be in 29) sounds like the Theraputic Recreation unit is way more hectic. NOT to mention about as Theraputic as H__L.
Sorry, no facility is a picnic, no Unit is home, GOD Protect them ALL!!
GOD BLESS
The Sparrow 01-14-2008, 02:07 PM I spent 21 years and 16 days in parchman and I am respected by many of the men there, let me know what unit he is in and I will share with you whatr is in that unit and what it is about. He may have heard of me as well as I was really well known. The best thing to do is not worry, but pray for I am a direct result of answered prayers!

BabyGurl74 04-17-2009, 03:15 PM Hi Sparrow,
I hope you're still active on this site. My son's father just got shipped back to Parchman. I say "back" because he did 8 years there and was released in 2001 or 2002 (don't really remember the date because all of this was before I met him). He's incarcerated now for a different offense. He was sentenced to 5 years, but the Judge said "you'll be out pretty quickly". I'm not familiar with the penal system at all. I'm from MS, but have been living in GA for the past 9 years. He communicates through letters, and every now and then, I can afford to add money to the GTL phone system to receive calls from him. But that's not often, because they only give you 2 phone calls worth for the $50 block that you pay for! (Serious RIP-OFF!). He has been classified as A-Custody and was sent to Unit 26. Can you tell me anything about this unit, or any information at all about Parchman? Thank you for anything you can divulge.
Sincerely,
SngleMom74
