I don't know where to post this. Somewhere a guy posted the question "when do you start feeling free" or something a long that line. This is my question. I really want to hear from those of you that served your time and are reallly, really DONE.

My son is suppose to be done at 12:01 AM on September 27, 2003. Back in 1999 he was sentenced to a mandatory 10 years. Here in Iowa, at that time, you served 50% of your time. His 50% is done 9/27/03.

I can not help feeling that there are strings attached to him some where. The counselor, the PO, and various other people in the system say no he is done and out of our system, we have no claim on him any more. I simple do not believe that, neither does my sister. This is my question.

Is he really finished? Is there anything to prove that they are out of our lives? This has got to be to good to be true.

Wow! Congrats! I understand you being apprehensive about really believing it, but if everyone of the "powers that be" are saying he's totally done with them than I'd believe it. His release papers will say if he has parole or any stipulations in writing though.... Awesome news!

Thanks Deb for your enthusiasm. I will try to be more positive and accepting of what they tell me. I'm suspicious by nature and dealing with the corrections system and its people have not helped that.

LadyDi~

Congradulations on your son coming home. Good for him for getting out exactlly on the halfway mark!

Honestly I think that he will be the one to decide if he is DONE for good. If he stays straight, he will be done. But as they say, once a part of the system, always a part. Basically that means that they are going to have an extra eye on him at all times, but as long as he stays stright, they cant mess with him

Good luck and god bless :)

Is he home??? You would think that he would have been informed if he was coming home today though, because of someone having to pick him up, parole needing to know where he is going to live, and who he is going to be living with, and having to approve the house and the person where he will be staying. Please let us know, and good luck!

I read in another thread about the delays. I'm sorry. Hope he's home soon. :(
