Welcome from another South Carolinian!!! I don't know anything about USP Hazelton, but I can tell you that in order for him to call, he has to have money in his account. You can send it by Western Union quick collect that goes to one location. I can tell you that my son received his money within minutes after I sent it. Look under "General Prison Talk" and there is a "sticky" at the top which I believe should give you the answers you need about Western Union. Phone minutes start on the 1st of every month, 300; except in Nov. & Dec. when the BOP gives them a little present (LOL), an extra 100 minutes.....but they still have to pay for it.
300 minutes is $69.00 (.23 each). Calls are limited to 15 minutes at a time. My son would call and only talk 2 minutes or so, although we did go over a few times. Every time they use the phone, I believe they have to wait 30 minutes before making another call. There are so many that use their minutes up right away, then no contact again until the next month starts. But there is always the old fashioned way...pen & paper!!
I hope you hear from him soon! Good Luck & God Bless!!!
PS>>>>>>this is long isn't it? We southerners love to talk!!!:D :D

USP Hazelton is under lockdown alot!!! If you don't hear from him that could be the reason. They just got off of lockdown on Monday.

My boo is at USP Hazelton and it's true they are on lockdown alot. How long has he been there? Because it usually takes a week before telephone numbers are put on his call list. He also told me that they are allowed to make collect calls but they are very expensive. Hope you hear from him soon. When he is able to call and you don't receive a call for about 4 -5 days that usually means they are on lockdown.

My boo is at USP Hazelton and it's true they are on lockdown alot. How long has he been there? It took about a week before my number was put on his list. That could be the hold up. He usually calls 2-3 times a week and when he doesn't he says it's because they are usually on Lockdown:(
HOPE YOU HEAR FROM HIM SOON.
Oh yeah when he calls the operator says "You have a pre-paid call.........
Take care

My husband is at USP Hazelton and they are given 300 minutes per month. With each call being just seconds over 15 minutes it equals about 20 calls per month. Each call costs $3.45 out of their phone account once money has been put on. My husband calls home two to three times per week depending on whether we are on our way to visit or not.

The Secure Female Facility (SFF Hazelton) now has email, which is great! Havent they implemented that yet at the USP Haz? Cuts down on phone calls, and is much quicker. Just dont include attachements, and they go thru!
